E ANNUAL LEAVE AND TERM TIME WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
Annual leave entitlement for Casual Employees(Applies to schools that have implemented the Pay & Allowances Framework 2015)In accordance with the Working Time Regulations 2001 all casual employees, irrespective of service, can accrue annual leave entitlement from the first day they work with you. This does not affect supply teachers who have an element of holiday pay paid within their daily rate of pay (195th of the annual salary).Where casual staff are required to comply with term time only working arrangements i.e. not able to take leave during the School’s term time, they will receive payment for their accrued annual leave. The accrued leave needs to be added to the final timesheet so payment is made. If a casual member of staff is working on a regular basis, subject to the needs of the school, they may be able to take leave during term time. Again, this needs to be recorded on the timesheet. Calculation of annual leave entitlement for casual employeesCasual staff accrue annual leave for every hour worked. With effect from 1st June 2015 leave is accrued at the following rates:GradeLeave Accrual RateGrades 1 – 5 0.089Grades 6 – 7 0.092Grades 8 – 9 0.096Grade 10 0.119Grade 11 and above 0.123Leave entitlement is calculated by multiplying the number of hours worked, to a maximum of 37 in any week, by the applicable accrual rate. The table over the page can be used to convert the decimal entitlement into minutes.Example, if a casual worker on Grade 6 has been working for 10 hours a week for the last 4 weeks (40 hours in total) multiply this by 0.092 which equals 3.68. This equates to 3 hrs 41 minutes.
