1. From what type of source did you read about slavery (primary or secondary; narrative, textbook, speech, webpage article, etc)? What do you think are the objectives/purpose of this source? 

2. How does this source depict different elements of slavery? Give specific examples. Topics to examine: the slave trade, plantation life and treatment of slaves by slave owners, views about slave owners, views about slaves, escape routes, and legislation. 

3. From whose point of view is this resource written? How does point of view affect the messages that the source sends to readers? 

4. How might this source relay different information if it were written from someone else’s point of view?
