Graduation is a formal and special event. The Delaware City School District makes every effort to make this a memorable occasion for everyone involved. This year is no exception, even during the Covid-19 Stay Safe Order. The following information is provided as a summary of important events and requirements that are relevant to the graduates and their families. Please carefully review the guidelines prior to the ceremony.Important Information for the Graduation CeremonyGraduate vehicles should arrive at the Fairgrounds on May 23 by alphabet and at the times listed below to verify attendance and receive your graduation packet. The graduate must be present in the vehicle for the vehicle to enter the procession line up. For safety purposes, no person is to exit the vehicle at the fairgrounds.The ceremony will take place at Hayes High School in the Senior parking lot in the rear of the high school. Graduates will be allowed to have one vehicle that will fit in a standard parking space (no RV’s, buses, extra-large vehicles - the procession route is tight and to be considerate of the other vehicles around you). If you need assistance setting up transportation please call Hayes High School by May 15 at 740-833-1010.For those family members that cannot attend the event in your vehicle, graduation will be livestreamed (link will be on our website) and WDLR will broadcast the entire event on 92.9 FM and 1550 AM.Please have the graduate ride in the front passenger seat with easy access to exit/enter the vehicle.At the diploma station, graduates ONLY will be allowed to exit the vehicle and walk to receive their diploma, remaining 6 feet away from the person before and after them. Graduates will stop for a professional photograph and then return to their vehicles (we will provide the photograph to you at no charge).Diplomas will be distributed at graduation. Any diploma not distributed at graduation will be available at a date TBA for pick up by the student (or parent) in the high school office during regular business hours the week following the graduation ceremony. Please call the office to make arrangementsArrival Time at the Fairgrounds Based on the Last Name of the Graduate. Please do not arrive before your designated time as it will only increase the amount of time you will have to wait to be assigned your place in the procession.A-F 9:30G-L 10:00M-R 10:30S-Z 11:00School FeesAll school fees should be paid in full prior to graduation. If you are unable to pay your balance in full prior to graduation, please reach out to Mrs. Backus at backussu@ to make payment arrangements.The graduation ceremony will be livestreamed and recorded as a keepsake; therefore, out of respect for yourself and others, the following guidelines apply: Dress CodeAll students are required to wear a school approved, cap, gown, and tassel (ordered from Jostens). Students must wear school-appropriate attire. Failure to do so, could result in students not permitted to participate in the ceremony. Vehicle DecorationsThis is a celebration and there is a procession to Hayes High School. You may decorate your vehicle with signs for the graduate. Please make sure all decorations are school appropriate and not a distraction to others. If you have any questions/concerns, please reach out to Hayes High School prior to May 23. Should a student fail to follow the above guidelines, or contribute to any disruptive actions or behaviors, his or her diploma may be withheld pending administrative judgment.
