LESSON 1

|Lesson 1: Step 1 |

|Country |

|Country |Shape of Pyramid: Prediction |Shape of Pyramid: Simulation |

|USA |Mostly equal thinning as age increases |Mostly equal thinning as age increases |

|Brazil |Mostly equal thinning as age increases |Thick birthrate thinning rapidly |

|China |Light birthrate with a lot of old people |Light birthrate with a lot of old people |

|India |Pretty average |Thick birthrate thinning rapidly |

|Indonesia |Pretty average |Thick birthrate thinning rapidly |

|Iraq |A lot of deaths |Thick birthrate thinning rapidly |

|Italy |Mostly equal thinning as age increases |Light birthrate with a lot of old people |

|Japan |Light birthrate with a lot of old people |Light birthrate with a lot of old people |

|Nigeria |A lot of deaths |Thick birthrate thinning rapidly |

|Responses to Questions |

|The living conditions differ due to how much food is being distributed and health benefits. The birth and death rates are affected because each |

|nation is controlled differently and their rations and money for each family is all different. |

|The three social issues due to lower birth rates would be distribution of food, resources like farms and factories, and health care. These three |

|issues make a country grow and evolve. |

|You can definitely tell the difference between a first world country and a third world country. The first world countries the babies will grow to |

|the almost same number of old people in the world. Versus third world countries which have a hefty number of birth rates because the death rate is |

|so high, they want their kids to have the best chance to live to 20 years old to have kids of their own. |

|The pyramid is extremely different because the US has a vast array of resources and health care. Our pyramid is fat and healthy while the third |

|world pyramids are extremely thin. |

|Since the quality of the country varies, some countries try and have a lot of kids, so they have a better chance of living vs other countries which|

|believe that only having one or two children will allow them to live longer due to more food and resources. |

|Lesson 2: Step 1 |

|Nigeria |Original |Prediction |+ 5 years |+15 years |-5 years |

|Birth rate |4.07 |Will decrease |4.27 |4.71 |3.86 |

|Death rate |1.11 |Will increase |0.94 |0.75 |1.36 |

|Population growth |2.65 |Stays the same |2.86 |2.86 |2.65 |

Sketch of Nigeria’s population pyramid in 2150 using USA birth and death rates:

I honestly don’t know how to do this on the computer.

|Lesson 2: Step 2 |

|Japan |Prediction |+ 5 years |+15 years |-5 years |

|Birth rate |Increase |1.46 |1.38 |1.40 |

|Death rate |decrease |0.90 |0.39 |2.39 |

|Population growth |increase |-0.10 |-0.91 |-0.91 |

|Responses to Questions: |

|The pyramid changes shape due to children growing and having children of their own as well as their parents dying. |

|The women in first world countries know they will be able to live to have children in a couple years while third world countries won’t know |

|until their dead. |

|The stats were relatively similar to my predictions, but I was a little off on the rise and fall of birth rates and population growth. Japans|

|numbers are way smaller than Nigeria’s, but overall the rise and fall of both are similar. |

|Japan is pretty good with their rationing and health care. They probably have higher numbers because the kids aren’t fighting to stay alive. |

|Japan would have to pay everyone for having multiple children to raise their population growth. A baby boom would put them out of a lot of |

|money. |

LESSON 3

|Lesson 3: Step 1 |

|Iraq |Prediction |Simulated 1 |Simulated 2 |Simulated 3 |

|Birth rate |Increase |3.15 |3.15 |0 |

|Death rate |Increase |0.63 |0.88 |0 |

|Population Growth |0% |2.45 |1.72 |0% |

|Lesson 3: Step 2 |

|Country |

|I guessed that the birth and death rate would increase because of the 0% population growth. |

|Limit their birth and death rates to about equal measures. People don’t want to die because more children are being born while parents |

|don’t want to give birth to see their children die. |

|Immigrants bring more people into the country along with taking away from the food supply. A lot of immigrants come to the United States |

|because of healthcare and work benefits. |

|The nation is going to suffer if we cannot control migration and birth rates to become equal with emigration and death rates. |

|The differences would be the population and food distribution along with health care. |

|They deal with rough climate changes and animal life. I cannot imagine living in a rainforest. |

|Our resources are better because we use cheap labor and get great products and have a lot of food in the United States and Canada. |
