HEALTH CARE AGENCYPRESS RELEASE23.06 2016Eden Mineral Water Co. donates dental chair to Baie Ste Anne HospitalIn an effort to promote oral health and mitigate the problem of tooth decay, gum disease and other oral health problems in the Praslin Community, a dental chair will be presented/donated to the Baie Ste Anne dental clinic on tomorrow Friday 24th June 2016 at 10 am by Mr JK Naidoo, the proprietor of Eden Mineral Water company, based on Praslin. The presentation will be held in the presence of Health Minister Mitcy Larue, Health Care Agency (HCA) board chairman, Maurice Loustau Lalanne , HCA CEO, Dr Suresh Menon and his deputy Dr Danny Louange. The ministerial delagtion are on a one day working visit visiting both the Baie Ste Anne and Grand Anse cinics as well as holding meetings with its staff. Mr Naidoo , who also owns OM Foods on Mahe, will present the chair to the Acting Chief Dental Offcier , Dr Velmurugan Chetty.The new dental chair, wort some Rs 25,000 will be placed in the Baie Ste Anne Health Centre dental clinic and the former one has been transferred to the Baie Ste Anne school campus. The new chair will provide part time oral health care services to children from private schools and preschoolers and adults referred for hygiene treatment around Baie Ste Anne region.The Baie Ste Anne dental clinic sees some 450 patients monthly including 110 school children.The dental clinic also carries out advanced dental surgeries and is staffed with two dentists, two dental therapists, five dental surgery assistants and one dental hygienist.It is important to note the tooth decay and gum disease are the two most common chronic oral diseases affecting our population children as children frequently forget to brush their teeth compounded with a diet with more sugary foods. It is also known that children miss substantial school hours each year due to dental related illness. Thus, the dental chair which has been moved to the Baie Ste Anne school campus will therefore address the oral health needs of the children of that school emphasizing on good oral behavior thus accentuating the Oral Health Day 2016 theme of: “It all starts here. Healthy mouth. Healthy body”.
