ALUMNI

• Selected four new candidates for induction into the Alumni Hall of Fame:

← David Cornell, owner, Cornell Jewelers

← Willie Joe Lightfoot, Sr., firefighter/Monroe County Legislator

← Holly Anderson, executive director, Breast Cancer Coalition

← Mark Perlo, president and chief executive officer, Xerographic Solutions, Inc.

• Delivered 50,000 Alumni Week and Homecoming invitations that included information about supporting the PAC campaign and offered alumni an opportunity to register for the new e-newsletter program scheduled to launch this fall.

2006-2007 ANNUAL FUND

• The 2006-2007 Annual Fund closed raising a record $527,000 from 1,714 donors; this represents a $144,000 increase over AF06.

• Secured 100 percent board participation in the Annual Fund representing $47,000 total support for the annual campaign.

• Secured 1,400 gifts totaling $124,000 from alumni.

BOARD GOVERNANCE

Held New Board Orientation sessions on August 27 and September 5 at the Genesee Valley Club.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

Registered for Harris Connect, an internet communication service. This technology will enable the Foundation to communicate more effectively and cost-efficiently with our alumni, donors and targeted groups via e-newsletter and broadcast e-mails.

DONOR RELATIONS/STEWARDSHIP

• Processed a total of 1,100 gift and pledge acknowledgments for Annual Fund, PAC, major gifts and special events.

• Contacted Jean Howard, chief of staff, City of Rochester to explore use of City Hall for MCCF events.

• Worked collaboratively the President’s Office to organize the Wolk Center for Excellence in Nursing groundbreaking ceremony.

• Confirmed date/location for President’s Circle Reception for $1,000 plus Annual Fund donors (Wednesday, October 17, Genesee Valley Club 5:00 p.m.)

MAJOR GIFTS & PAC CAMPAIGN

• A dedication celebrating the groundbreaking for the Wolk Center for Excellence in Nursing was held July 26. Among the 100+ guests were Dr. Alvin Ureles, chair of the Louis S. and Molly B. Wolk Foundation and County Executive Maggie Brooks. The Wolk Foundation gifted $2 million to make this state-of-the-art facility possible.

• MCC will continue to receive support from health care providers in the community who have pledged financial support to keep MCC’s enrollment of nursing students at 30 percent above normal levels. Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Preferred Care, University of Rochester/Strong, Unity Health System and ViaHealth will combine to offer $900,000 over the next five years to keep MCC at the forefront of responding to the community’s health care needs.

• Total gifts and pledges to support the PAC as of August 31, 2007 = $4,724,500. This represents an increase of $311,000 since our last report and includes gifts and pledges from Joan & Burton August, Donna ’86 & Robert ’70 Brennan, Brown & Brown of New York, Inc., Jack Cannon/Cannon Industries/Burnett Process, Inc., Constellation Brands, Inc., Judith D. '79 & William W. '79 Rose/ Datrose Industries, Elmer W. Davis, Inc., Susan & John DiMarco II, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Ilene & David Flaum/Flaum Management Company, Inc, Mr. & Mrs. Emerson U. • PAC Campaign materials—designed pro bono by Dixon Schwabl Advertising—were recognized by the local chapter of the Public Relations Society of America at the annual PRism Awards on June 7.

• Two-thirds of the prospects who attended one of three breakfast briefings hosted by PAC Campaign Honorary Chair Arunas Chesonis in May and early June have made a strong financial commitment and we are awaiting positive replies from others.

• The MCC Foundation hosted a Coaches Conference at Frontier Field June 28 to highlight the importance of creating health and wellness opportunities for young adults. Brian Gionta, NHL player and Rochester native, addressed the MCC coaching staff stressing the need for proper training facilities and highlighting the impact the new PAC Center will have on the community. Democrat & Chronicle sports reporter Scott Pitoniak served as moderator. The event was well received and generated significant local media attention.

• The PAC groundbreaking will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the construction site.

• The PAC page is now live on the Foundation’s website and can be accessed at monroecc.edu/go/pac or from the Foundation website, from the Welcome options.

FINANCE/INVESTMENT/AUDIT COMMITTEES

• Completed financial statements for the eleven months ending July 31, 2007.

• Rebalanced asset allocation per Investment Committee.

• Completed semi-annual scholarship transfer of $700,127, bringing total support to the college to $1,537,952 for the 2006/2007 fiscal year.

• Completed and submitted fund review for Toyota T-ten program.

• Established timeline and updates for upcoming 2007 audit.

• Revised cash flow schedule for Field House financing objectives with Treasurer.

PLANNED GIVING

• Secured a $10,000 gift annuity from John and Janet Westerburg.

• Secured a $20,000 gift annuity from Jan Wiranowski.

• Developed new marketing materials to support all aspects of planned giving.

• Pete French and Joe Marchese will present a seminar for MCC retirees on October 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dr. French will host the seminar at the Genesee Valley Club and Professor Marchese will offer financial advice and gift annuity information.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

• Assisted in the execution of the “Coaches Conference” at Frontier Field in June in support of the PAC Center campaign (Dixon Schwabl PR Task Force).

• Provided communications support of the Gilman Lounge Dedication and Scholarship Open.

• Produced communication materials for Alumni Week and Homecoming 2007.

• Assisted in the execution of the Wolk Center for Excellence in Nursing Groundbreaking Ceremony.

• Gathered photography and graphics regarding the Wolk Foundation to support the upcoming CRD Benefactors Award presentation in November in Washington D.C.

• Provided content for the 2006-2007 Annual Report, “Giving Back. Moving Forward.”

• Drafted the summer issue of Foundations; delivered content for the Ideas planned giving newsletter.

• Began planning and developed invitations for “MCC’s Big Dig for the PAC” groundbreaking event on September 20.

• Media successes:

- Diane Shoger and Skip Bailey (associate director of athletics) interviewed by CBS Radio regarding the community impact of the PAC Center (June 24)

- Coaches Conference featuring Brian Gionta and Scott Pitoniak covered by 13WHAM, FOX/WROC 8, RNews and the Democrat and Chronicle (June 28)

- Wolk Groundbreaking covered by News 10NBC, FOX/WROC 8, 13WHAM, WXXI and the Brighton-Pittsford Post (July 26).

- Thumbs Up for the MCC Foundation Scholarship Open published in the Democrat and Chronicle (August 25).

SCHOLARSHIPS

• Finalized the following scholarships:

­ The O’Hanlon Family First Responders Endowed Scholarship which supports students enrolled in Paramedic Education, Emergency Medical Training and Fire Protection Technology Programs at Public Safety Training Facility.

­ The MCC Math Department’s Endowed Statistics Scholarship which supports students planning to pursue careers in areas related to Mathematics.

­ Western New York Dental Group Scholarship which supports students enrolled in the Dental Hygiene Program.

• Developed the profile/criteria for the Men’s Soccer Team Fund made possible through a gift from the Davenport-Hatch Foundation.

• Met with John and Mary Thompson to review their committee’s 30 scholarship award recommendations.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Scholarship Open

• Hosted the sold-out Scholarship Open annual golf tournament on July 16, 2007.

• Raised a precedent-setting $73,069 — a 16 percent increase over last year— including $26,000 in annual scholarships.

• Recognized the tournament’s leading sponsors: ADMAR Supply & DiMarco Constructors, Brite Computers, M/E Engineering, M&T Bank, SWBR/Parrone Engineering, MWI Inc., Siemens Building Technologies.

• Thanked tournament chairmen Al Casey and Dan Burns for their exceptional leadership.

• Confirmed Brian McMahon, MWI, Inc. and Rick Brienzi, LeChase Construction, as next year’s chairs.

• Reserved Monday, July 14, 2008 at Monroe Golf Club for next year’s tournament.

• Confirmed Arunas A. Chesonis, Chairman of the Board &CEO, PAETEC Communications, as Honorary Chair.

• Produced and mailed 4,200 save-the-date cards.

ACCOLADES AND PRESENTATIONS

The Foundation’s 2005-2006 annual report and The PAC Strengthening Our Community: MCC Field House piece both won best of category in the SUNYCUAD Awards of Excellence in their respective fundraising publications categories. The awards were presented at the SUNYCUAD Annual Educational Conference in Syracuse on June 13.

OBJECTIVES

September - November 2007

ALUMNI

• Host Alumni Week and Homecoming to reunite over 300 alumni with the College through a variety of events that include: the Damon City Campus 15th Anniversary dinner, an alumni golf outing and athletics events that feature our Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams.

• Secure support from alumni for the PAC through the brick and paver program.

• Produce alumni videos for presentation at the Salute to Excellence.

• Secure $15,000 in Salute underwriting support for the Salute to Excellence; sell (6) tables for the event.

ANNUAL FUND

• Launch the 2007-2008 Annual Campaign entitled Moving Forward. Giving Back.

• Deliver a leadership piece to all 1,700 donors who supported AF06; seek to promote donors through targeted solicitations.

• Support direct mail with outgoing message technology designed to draw attention to our annual campaign materials.

BOARD GOVERNANCE

• Board Governance Committee to begin process of selecting candidates for the 2008-2011 term.

• Hold luncheon with R. Thomas Flynn and new board members.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN / MAJOR GIFTS

• Complete direct marketing campaign in support of the PAC, soliciting alumni and annual fund donors through direct mail and telemarketing, identifying and engaging new prospects and targeting non-donor alumni determined to be PAC prospects.

• Complete $1.5 million challenge.

• Design of interactive donor wall to recognize PAC contributors.

FINANCE

• Complete charts/graphs for cash flow allocation with Foundation’s vice president, budget.

• Continue working with Treasurer on Field House financing project.

• Prepare schedules for 2007 audit.

• Review CAE/VSE survey and prepare reconciliation to audited financial statements.

• Complete work on Banner consolidated monthly financial statements.

PLANNED GIVING

• Host 50 retirees at a seminar on financial planning; introduce the concept of charitable gift annuities.

• Establish the date for the Alice Holloway Young Society appreciation luncheon.

• Deliver the fall issue of Ideas, the planned giving newsletter.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

• Continue to promote Alumni Week and Homecoming 2007.

• Execute “MCC’s Big Dig for the PAC” groundbreaking event.

• Provide communications support of the President’s Circle Reception and Salute to Excellence events.

• Assist with development of the MCC Foundation Web site and e-communications.

• Produce the annual Nursing Alumni newsletter (mails in November).

• Complete e-mail address append service to correct and add to current database.
