Groundbreaking research is underway in the field of dentistry

PRESS RELEASE

Groundbreaking research is underway in the field of dentistry! Nationally recognized Chicago dentist, Dr. Ron Schefdore, has developed a clinical trial protocol for the treatment of periodontal (gum) disease. His research stands to dramatically change the manner in which the vast majority of Americans can be helped to live longer, healthier lives.

An expert team of clinicians throughout the United States has been selected to test

C-reactive protein levels of patients who have been diagnosed with periodontal disease. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, elevated levels of C-reactive protein, a substance developed by the liver in response to inflammation, is a more significant indicator of future heart attack or stroke than high cholesterol. In fact, 50% of individuals who die of heart attacks have normal cholesterol levels! According to the American Dental Association, 75% of Americans have gum disease. It has long been recognized that gum disease contributes to a wide range of systemic health problems. As an infection, periodontal disease represents a state of chronic inflammation.

Dr. Schefdore notes that due to its inflammatory nature, periodontal disease can significantly raise an individual’s C-reactive protein levels. Dr. Schefdore has developed a non-surgical approach to the treatment of gum disease which has dramatically lowered

C-reactive protein levels in his patients. C-reactive protein levels can be significantly reduced with professional gum tissue therapy in conjunction with vitamins and natural anti-inflammatory nutrients specifically developed to enhance gum tissue health (Go to for details.

With gum disease affecting 75% of Americans, and with heart disease and stroke being the biggest killers in the United States, the research of Dr. Schefdore and his team of dental experts is not only timely, but a critical step towards saving lives.

Local cosmetic and general dentist, Dr. Lisa Marie Samaha, is well-known for her 24 years of involvement in the field of non-surgical and surgical treatment of periodontal disease. Dr. Samaha has been closely involved with Dr. Schefdore in development and implementation of the ground-breaking c-reactive protein/periodontal disease clinical trials.
