The agencies are listed in alphabetical order, but you will have to read through the listings of agencies to determine whether or not the services you need are available. All of the agencies listed have addresses, telephone numbers, and some have a contact person. Just reading through the directory can provide you with some knowledge of services and activities for young people in Newark. By no means is this directory meant to be a complete listing of services available to youth, but rather a document upon which to build. The directory can be used to make referrals, find summer programs, locate alternative programs, and to locate special services. Please call the Office of Student Support Services if you wish to add resources, or complete the form included in the directory or fax the form to our office at (973) 733-7670. Recommended resources will be included in the next update.Clarencia ShadeMary Leigh HarveySupervisorSupervisorOffice of Student Support ServicesOffice of GuidanceBarbara A. SPAN provides county-based and regional workshops during the weekday, in the evening, and on Saturdays or Sundays, as well as archived workshops on our website, , on a wide variety of topics. Ongoing workshops are available to parents without charge. SPAN charges districts, government agencies, and non-profit organizations a fee for workshops. SPAN is an approved provider of teacher education by the NJ Department of Education. Our sliding fee scale is attached. For parents of children with special needs, SPAN’s Parent to Parent program can connect them to another parent for emotional support and information on resources.
