The Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry work in partnership with the University and NHS to provide contemporary, patient-centred and integrated undergraduate medical and dental degree programmes. Research within the Schools is directly relevant to improving patient health and the quality of patient care, and hence is readily applicable to the education programmes. The Schools work in close partnership with Derriford, the region’s premier trauma centre and teaching hospital, and with a variety of community-based clinical partners, ensuring an excellent student experience with immersion in the clinical environment throughout the course. The programme provides students with all the skills, knowledge and support they need to become outstanding clinicians that meet the health and social care needs of the 21st Century.

The School is now seeking an individual with a strong background in education, ethics & law, social or health sciences research, and who is highly motivated towards a successful career in education research, to take up the exciting new post of research fellow in medical education. The research will be developed in collaboration and with the direct involvement of colleagues in the multidisciplinary medical education research group, the Collaboration for the Advancement of Medical Education Research & Assessment (CAMERA).

You, in collaboration with local and national organisations including the National Clinical Assessment Service (NCAS), will primarily work to develop a new research programme into understanding and analysing the remediation of medical students and doctors whose performance has been brought into question. This stream of work will feed from and into established research in selection and revalidation (.uk)
