Ohio Give Kids A Smile Program

On February 1, 2013, the Ohio Dental Association's Give Kids a Smile program will be offering free dental care in Ohio to children in need who have no other resources to get that care. The GKAS program is available for children in the following circumstances:

• Their families have no private dental insurance, have not seen a dentist, and cannot afford dental care

• Families are living on a limited income

• Families are experiencing financial difficulty (due to divorce, illness, death, loss of job, etc.)

• The child is not a current patient at another dental office

The dental office in Lewis Center will take 30 children ages 3-18 from 8 a.m. to 2p.m.. The office will provide free exams, cleaning and preventative care. This site would be dependent on a parent or guardian transporting the children.

The Ohio Dental Association brought GKAS to Ohio in 2003 and, since then, volunteers have provided more than $9,231,000 in free dental services to over 182,000 children in need.

If you are interested in participating in the Give Kids a Smile Program, please contact Smith Elementary at 740-833-1350. The event is less than four weeks away, so responses are needed soon, and children will be scheduled on a first-come basis.
