The current advice continues to be ‘stay home’. At this time, schools remain open for those students whose parents are in the essential services. I continue to attend the Department’s livestreams for Principals and receive daily COVID-19 information and updates as it evolves. Learning from Home: began last week with the first weekly plan of activities to support continuity of learning for all of our students. Learning is consistent across both the home and school contexts. Class teachers are checking in with their students via email and/or phone. The school currently provides a daily plan of blended learning in a weekly overview, which is a mix of hands-on activities and online resources, delivered via email or hard copy. Parents and caregivers were again emailed this morning by the class teacher, with the weekly plan to support ‘Learning from Home’ for week 11. Please note: this is the final week of the school term; Monday to Thursday. No home learning will be sent over the school holidays. I encourage teachers, parents and students to enjoy their break at the end of the term, despite it being a ‘stay at home’ Easter holiday. Departmental resources: I encourage parents and caregivers to access the Department’s Learning from Home resource which provides practical advice to parents and carers on how best to create and support a productive learning environment in the home. The resource can be accessed via the school’s website service and the NSW School Updates app (links below) or If you have any questions, please contact the school during school hours 8.45am- 3.30pm or email the classroom teacher. This term, staff are currently working on site, at school, under a flexible timetable, and will respond as soon as practicable. 00Dear Parents and or Caregivers, Current advice: the Government and the Department of Education continues to encourage parents and carers to keep their child, or children at home, in response to COVID-19. Contact detailsPlease email or phone the Office if your current contact details including address, home or mobile phone numbers and/or email addresses, have changed bardwelpki-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au Digital online platforms: Please contact me if you seek support with your Stage One child’s google classroom or student portal. You have my email address. I have already sent explicit instructions and screenshots to support your child to join the online platform. I currently have 11 of the 16 students enrolled. Stage 1 students have the learning opportunity to engage with this digital platform, whilst learning digital literacy, digital citizenship, via Visual Arts. It is also a way for your child to stay somewhat connected to their class peers, via their student portal. As always, parents are to remain vigilant when students are on the net, even via the Department’s student portal, as you will not have the same firewall and security at home. Google Classroom is not a chat room, there is a stream for class posts and an area for assignments, where students can post comments and upload their work. Currently, I am not providing a rubric for marking the submitted artwork or giving a due date for its completion. I am providing and encouraging this opportunity for online learning. It can be accessed via their portal on an ipad, laptop, stand-alone computer, i-phone or android. Seesaw K-2 classesSeesaw is a popular online learning tool for students from Kindergarten to Year 2. Both KG and 1/2H will be utilising Seesaw in term 2. Learning from Home will be sent on the first student day which is Tuesday 28 April. Of course, the weekly overview will still be provided for those without access to the internet, so no one will be disadvantaged. Seesaw may be used on an ipad, tablet, laptop or computer. The school will be open on staff development day Monday 27 April with staff working on-site on that day. Term 2 Students’ books If Learning from Home is to continue next term, the school has organised our students’ books, which are ready to be collected next term, for use at home. We will keep you posted once school resumes next term. Welcome two new students to Kindergarten! We ‘virtually’ welcome Verity and Delilah to Kindergarten, who have begun Learning from Home today. School newsletters: are uploaded to the school website on Monday afternoons. The Department of Education inserts ‘must haves’ are in the latest news, on the opening page of the school website. NSW School Updates app: provides up-to-date information on the operational status of schools and provides links to many useful resources. Finally, I wish to commend the dedication of the staff and the great work they do, particularly in light of our small school context. This is the final newsletter for this term. No Learning from Home materials will be sent over the school holidays. Enjoy what will be a different Easter school holidays for us all! Staff will return to duty on School Development Day on Monday 27 April. Kind regards Jo Fulham Principal ................
