An epithet is an adjectival phrase used to define a characteristic, quality, or attribute of some person or thing. For example, Homer uses many, but here’s one: Odysseus, brave raider of cities. Think about things that are important to you, hobbies you enjoy, or something you are especially good at. Using that information and the following format, write an epithet describing you.

Format: Name, Ms. Durham

Adjective (character trait) fearless

Noun (verb with “er” at end) teacher

Prepositional phrase of English

My epithet: Ms. Durham, fearless teacher of English

Your turn!!! After you have selected your epithet, you are going to write in on a piece of construction paper. You may also want to decorate your epithet with items that reflect the characteristic or hobby that you have chosen to describe yourself.
