Familiarity with the use of communication technologies to connect with staff remotely is essential.KEY TASKSEducation InitiativesCurriculum and Learning Design Communicate progress and outcomes of education initiatives to relevant stakeholders (internal and external). Design, implement and manage academic projects.Coordinate communications for EDC related initiatives.Manage socialization and communication of key academic information including QMS documentsAssist in the development, implementation, communication and review of relevant Institute/ Section policy (and related) documents.Undertake academic analysis, report writing, and research on educational matters as required.Assist in the promotion and development of consistent, good information management practices across the organisation.Provide leadership and guidance on a range of educational matters.Design and develop strategies, tools and resources to assist managers and academic staff in applying good teaching and learning design practice.Work alongside managers and academic staff and provide leadership, guidance, and advice on the?design, development, and delivery of new and revised curricula and learning resources. Use innovative?curriculum and learning design strategies and approaches in assessment design, for Blended/online learning, Active learning, Constructive alignment , Relationship-based learning, Inquiry/project- based?approaches, and Work integrated learningQuality AssuranceReview, report on, and implement improvements to academic quality practices.Facilitate and provide guidance on the approval and accreditation processes for new and changed programmes.Contribute to the functioning of Academic Committee and its sub-committees as required.Maintain institutional oversight of qualification reviews.Facilitate compliance with requirements for academic quality, including moderation, degree (and post-graduate) monitoring, and NZQA Consistency Reviews. Provide guidance on, and assist with the facilitation of, EIT’s self-reviews.Staff Training and Development on (educational matters)Coordinate staff education activities, within the Staff Development Framework and on specific academic projects.Provide staff development and support on the external quality assurance requirements, programme design, approval and accreditation.Encourage and support staff to develop skills in learning and teaching, and quality assurance.General Develop and maintain currency of knowledge and practices in evaluative Quality Assurance methodology and programme approval and accreditation practices. Work cooperatively with colleagues to develop constructive working relationships across all campuses and promote consistent messaging across the institute.Maintain an awareness of academic quality assurance matters across the whole of EIT.Contribute to sector (academic) fora and ensure a general awareness of key national academic matters for the institute.Undertake other duties as agreed, which your Manager may request.PERSON SPECIFICATIONPOSITION:Education Advisor – Academic CommunicationsKnowledge, Skills and ExperienceTertiary education quality assurance systems and processes, academic regulations and policies, and administration practices (includes the New Zealand Qualifications Framework and the Quality Evaluations Framework).Use learning design principles and practices, design and develop curriculum, use current knowledge of learning and teaching practice and trends, and apply technologies to support learning.Change management and project management methodologies.Guide and motivate staff to enhance student municate with, support, and provide guidance to a diverse range of audiences.
