Performance coaching and feedback is an on-going process between supervisor and staff member throughout the year. The annual performance evaluation discussion is a point in time to summarize the year’s progress and jointly develop with the employee work and professional goals for the future. This one-day course reviews the supervisor’s interactive leadership role in the evaluation process. Topics include:

▪ A review of the Boards’ performance evaluation process, forms, and supervisor responsibilities

▪ Creating a collaborative approach in the evaluation process

▪ Determining content to include in the evaluation based on feedback previously communicated to the employee

▪ Selecting descriptive words and phrases to communicate performance accomplishments and areas of development (with practice session)

▪ Coaching staff on the various activities that can be included in their Individual Development Plan to further enhance their professional and career growth

Note: Annual performance evaluations are required to be conducted by managers and supervisors for each employee immediately following the completion of each fiscal year. (APM section and link).

April 4, 9 to 4, Sacramento

May 9, 9 to 4, Riverside

Registration Fees: Paid through the Water Board Training Academy

To Register: Class size is limited to 25. Follow the training registration requirements, obtain all required approvals and then register on-line at . It is not necessary to submit hard-copy training requests to the Academy office; the online system will provide a registration confirmation.
