Real World Heroes
Expository Writing and Media Assignment
Your task is to create a poster about someone you consider a hero or someone you admire. In this poster you will need to Include:
• A title and headings to indicate the different sections of the poster
• A minimum of one photo
• A brief timeline of important events in the hero’s life
• A quotation you have found about heroes, courage, bravery, etc. (be sure to indicate the speaker of the quotation)
• An expository paragraph using the structure taught in class, i.e. PPE format
The paragraph must:
• Have a topic sentence (clearly states why the person is a hero)
• Have at least two PPEs (Point, Proof, and Explain)
• Have a concluding sentence (clearly restates why the person is a hero)
• Be written in a formal tone (no “I,” no contractions, no overly casual language)
The poster must:
• Be visually appealing (not too crammed, and not too empty)
• Be shared with the class, i.e. projected as you present it
