MKT 3.01 D – Packaging Activity

A new company has started to take advantage of people’s interest in nature and the environment. The company sells individual flowers that are no more than four inches tall and are planted in two-inch square pots. The flowers are blooming and with proper care should live for several months or longer. They will be sold through supermarkets, gift shops, and even vending machines. You have been asked to help in the design of the package that will protect the flower, and provide information on the care of the flower. You will also need to develop a brand name for the product that will appear on the package.

Part 1 – Design your packaging.

Use 8 ½” x 11” white paper to draw your package design using all space. You will need to include the following in your design:

• Color

• Package Design – If your packaging is clear, be sure to show the product inside

• Label for how to care for the product – include the process or steps

• Contents listed

• Brand name or logo

Part 2 – Explanation

On a separate page, type or write descriptions for the following:

• Product Design – what it’s made of, colors you used and why, how it protects the product

• How your packaging attracts people interested in nature and the environment

• How your care process or steps will help the product live for several months or longer.

• Brand Name/Logo – describe it and explain why you chose it

To turn in, staple your design to the top of your explanations.
