FontWorks Vertical Lettering Kitchen Towel

Vertical lettering can be a lot of fun when you get creative with words like in this towel. You can rearrange letters with just a few clicks. This technique is great for fun wall hangings and table runners, too.

At the Computer:

1. Open the program by clicking on the FontWorks desktop.

2. On the top toolbar, click on the down arrow below the Hoop icon and select the 200mm x 300mm hoop.

3. To create the lettering design follow the next set of steps:

Click the Text icon on the top toolbar. Click anywhere on the workspace to open the Properties. Type in the name "NIKI"S" in the Letters field. If your name is

different you will want to use a different word for the Vertical word. In the Font field, click on the down arrow and select the Lazy Days Font. Change the Height to 20mm. Click on Apply for the changes to be applied.

4. To create the vertical word, follow the next set of steps.

Click on the Vertical Text icon on the top toolbar. Click anywhere on the workspace to activate the Properties field. Type in the modified word "itchen" in the Text field. Select the Lazy Days font from the list of pre-digitized fonts. Set the Height to 20mm. Click on Apply for the changes to be applied. Place the vertical word under the "K" in Niki's (as shown below).

5. To change the color on the lettering, click on the color Palette tab

in the Properties field and select a color from the color choices. 6. Click on the Print icon to print out a template for placement of the design. 7. Click on File Save As and send to the media source in the format that your machine will read. Give this design a name.

At the Machine: 1. Pin the printed template to the center bottom of the towel. 2. Hoop the stabilizer and lightly spray with the temporary spray adhesive. Place the towel in the center of the hoop and finger press smooth. 3. Place the hoop on the embroidery unit. 4. Center the needle over the cross marks on the template. Remove the template. 5. Place a piece of Hydro Melt topping over the design area. 6. Embroider the design using the thread color of your choice.
