Show the slide details

Is there a way to show the slide details, such as the jpg number in the show while you're still in the preparation (edit) phase. Before I create the dvd I edit out any slides I don't want. As the show plays full screen mode) it would be good to see the slide names so you can make a note of which ones to turf. What I have been doing is making rough notes as the show plays; then I go back and edit in the storyline.

I'm using version 2.6

This can be done by using Macros. Open Show Options and click the Captions tab. You should see a button labeled Macros. Click the dropdown menu and select Predefined Macros. You should see an option to include the file name. I'm using v3.0 but I know macros were available in v2.6 and the directions I listed should be similar.

Animated GIF treatment

Brenda helped me out with this one:

You can put into Windows Movie Maker and output as an AVI file to use in Proshow or :

Another way with an animated gif is:- (It is not hard to do, just a little tedious.)

Open up the gif in photoshop. Look in layers and you will see how many frames there are in the gif. Save each seperately as a png (give them a name such as PNG 1/PNG 2 etc.) When you close the gif animation and a box asks if you want to save the changes, click no.

Now you can drop each png into your show in the order that you saved saved them - PNG 1/PNG 2 etc. each on a separate slide with a 00 transition between each slide. A timing of 0.5 (may be less or a little more, you have to experiment) on each slide. You can pan each image in the same postion on every slide or move them around (depends on how the animated gif moves).

The advantage of the above is that you can have choose a background layer or colour for your slides (see my last paragraph)

If you look at my show 'The Ugly Bug Ball', it closes with an animation of a butterfly which I created as as I explained above. ()

When you make a 'movie' in WMM, it saves the gif with the colour of its background. (I don't know if there is a way to change the colour). And if this is say black, then you have to use a black background in your show eitherwise you can see the a black frame around the movie.

Brenda

Hi Brenda and Nannybear,

Maybe you might want to use a less labor intensive way in Photoshop to achieve this. Just open the file in Photoshop, be sure it's 8 bit RGB or use the Mode command to change to 8 bit RGB then click on File, Edit in Image Ready then choose File, Export, Animation Frames as Files.

They (each frame) will be exported as individual files already named and ready to import into PSP/PSG....

Best regards,

Lin

Digital Scrapbooking sites

| |Okay Dan - you asked for some resources for digital scrapping Do0-Dadds. Below are some sites including tutorials and Doo-Dadds|

| |- digi scrappers call them "embellishments". These sites all have backgrounds and embellishments to buy, but most also have |

| |free downloads - that way you can at least give them a try. I used to sell items on some of the sites, but just don't have the |

| |time right now. If there is something specific you are looking for just holer and I may be able to share. Good luck. Let me |

| |know if you have any questions. Here are a couple of digital scrapbooking sites that will give you some ideas for working with |

| |a photo editing program and creating backgrounds and embellishments. If you google "digital scrapbooking" you will find tons of|

| |great sites - most of which have tutorials. |

Downloading the Tutorials from Photodex

Thanks Brian!

Have you tried saving Jennifers (Vidqueen) tutorial to your computer before viewing. This should stop the pauses. may take anywhere around an hour to download depending on your BB speed.

Saving a show. (This assumes an XP Operating System)

Click on the link so that Presenter opens and the show starts to download.

Allow the show to completely finish downloading, you can play the show if you wish as one method to check you have a full download. DO NOT CLOSE PRESENTER

Navigate toC:\Documents and Settings\'Your user name'\Local Settings\Temp

Amongst the files here will be one named psgx.tmp (where x is a number or letter) [or do a search for psg*.tmp and include hidden files, that is where mine was]

Highlight this file (blue background)

In 'File and Folder tasks' select 'Copy this File'.

This will open a window 'Copy Items', select where you want to copy it and click OK.

Now find where you copied this file to and rename as 'anythingyouwant.px'

You will now have a saved px file which when clicked on will open Presenter and play the file.

Hope you follow this. You must leave Presenter open until you have copied the file as closing presenter deletes the file.

Re: [proshowgroup] Saving a Show from Photodex "Sharing" Site

One other thing I forgot to mention, I upload most tutorials that the

group shares (especially from Dale610) to the MyDataBus storage site. I

have posted this before, but will again for new members. All of the

Yahoo forum's files are duplicated on this site. Unless you have your

own free MyDataBus account, go to and sign in with the

following information:

1) Go to

2) Login with this information:

Email = proshowfiles@

Password = slides (all lower case ... it matters)

3) To go to the files maintained from the Forum and Tutorials, select to

View All Groups on the left or use the All Groups button. You will see

the ProShow Files Group. Click on it, and you will see all of the files and folders. If you don’t see very many click on the My Groups Tab. Great stuff here!! Including Jen’s tutorial

Right Click Right Click

Can’t say enough about right clicking in PSP3 – here are some examples

You have doubleclicked on a slide to edit it, now right click:

Now you have all these options to choose from. I had forgotten how to see all my layers at once!!

The same with these attributes

[pic]

And the same with most of these. Not red eye for some reason – at least it didn’t work for me.

This is a link to Jennifer’s Tutorials on lots of things.

Codecs

In XP you can invoke the control panel/sounds and audio devices/hardware tab then scroll down to audio codecs and click properties and then click the next properties tab. This will display the codecs installed and allow you to highlight/remove them or you can highlight and check/set/configure/enable or disable individual codecs.

By scrolling down a bit further in the first hardware tab you'll also find the video codecs that are installed.

I would caution you to be careful......you can really hose yourself in here.

Good luck,

Looking for background pictures

When I go looking for background images for my slideshows, I search google images for "desktop backgrounds" and "powerpoint backgrounds" and I always find what I need.

There are tons of free sites out there with great images you can use in your presentations. Here are a few examples:

Scrolling film strips

Using the following PNG file with transparency:

You simply increase the size until both ends are off the screen and then you do a normal pan. Ideally in my example I would have used to seperate film strips instead of the same one.

This could as easily be done in PSG as well as PSP.

What I'm doing for my use is putting in just the scrolling film strips and then exporting it to an AVI file, then using that AVI file as an animated background.

It's a great way to show off the upcoming photos for your presentation in your intro to give people a taste of what's coming.

I started with a blank transparent image that was 6000x440. I then used DreamSuite to create the filmstrip on the canvas. DreamSuite creates "holes" for you to fill in the pictures, however not all pictures are the save size. So I filled in all the holes to make a long black strip of film:

I then brought in each photograph I wanted to use and resized it to 260 pixels in height. This gives me a universal hight for all pictures. I then drop them into the filmstrip leaving gaps between each photo. That gives me my final filmstrip to use in the slideshow. I had to crop the width since I didn't have 6000 pixels worth of pictures to put in [pic].

You can rotate the filmstrip canvas to veritical and resize your pictures to 260 pixels wide to create a vertical strip intead of horizontal.

Once it was complete, I exported it as a transparent PNG and brought it into PSP. PSP resized it to fix the screen, so I went into the motion tab and increased the zoom so that it no longer fit on the screen. I moved the first strip so that the "front" was on the left side then on the "end" control I moved it so that the "back" was on the right side of the screen. PSP auto panned it for me. I also changed the scroll type to "linear" to get a steady scroll.

Flight to New York

First, here's the sample:

If the music drives you nuts, just mute it. [pic]

I got the original for the map from this location:

and cropped it to what I needed:

The plane is an object from Cool3D. I rotated it to the correct angle for my flight from California to New York, gave it a green background and exported to a bitmap. I imported the bitmap into Paint Shop Pro, cut out the green to give it a transparent background, and then created the shadow on a seperate layer. I resized the shadow and moved it into position and exported the whole thing as a PNG file:

In PSP, I dropped the map into the primary layer and zoomed in to 300%. I positioned the first frame to show my starting point and the final frame to show my ending point.

I added the plane as a new layer and then went to the motion tab and added 3 keyframes. For the first keyframe I positioned the plane pretty much over LA and resized it to about 6%. For the second keyframe I moved it to where I wanted it to be for the middle part of the flight and resized it to 50%. For the third keyframe I left it in position and at 50%. For the 4th keyframe I moved it over NYC and resized it to 8% again.

Voila! You have a plane flying from California to New York.

ps. Here's a more fun version of the map:
