You can find additional gadgets online. Because gadgets are programs, you should download and install gadgets only from sources

you trust.

To complete this project, you will need the following file: New, blank WordPad document You will save your file as: Lastname_Firstname_w7_04_Meter 1. Right-click an empty area on the desktop, and then click Gadgets. 2. In the lower-right corner of the Gadgets gallery, click Get more gadgets online. In the

Personalization Gallery web page, scroll down to display Featured desktop gadgets. Compare your screen with Figure 1.

The Personalization Gallery is a web page with links to additional gadgets. These gadgets typically are created by companies and individuals not associated with Microsoft. Because new gadgets are added to this page constantly, your web page may have different gadgets than the ones shown in the figure.

3. Scroll through the list of available gadgets, and then locate and click the All CPU Meter thumbnail. If the gadget is not available, substitute another gadget. Compare your screen with Figure 2. Each gadget has a page describing what it does, how to use the gadget, and who created the gadget. It is a good idea to evaluate this information before deciding to download a gadget.

4. On the All CPU Meter web page, click the Download button. In the lower-right corner of the screen, read the information in the pop-up window, and then click Install.

5. In the File Download - Security Warning dialog box, click Open. If the Internet Explorer Security message displays, click Run.

6. Read the Desktop Gadgets - Security Warning message that displays, and then click Install. If you picked a different gadget, you may be required to read and accept additional security warnings.

7. On the right edge of the taskbar, click the Show desktop button . Compare your screen with Figure 3.

8. Create a Full-screen Snip. Copy the snip, and then Close the markup window without saving the changes.

9. Start WordPad, and type your first and last name. Add a new line, and then type Windows 7 Chapter 4 More Skills 13 Add a new line, and then insert the Date and time. Add a new line, and then Paste the snip.

10. Click Save , and then In the Save As dialog box, navigate to your Windows 7 Chapter 4 folder. In the File name box, type Lastname_Firstname_w7_04_Meter and then click Save. If you are printing this project, print the WordPad document.

11. Exit WordPad. On the desktop, point to the All CPU Meter gadget, and then click Close to remove it from the desktop.

12. On the taskbar, click the Gadget Gallery button , and then compare your screen with Figure 4. Removing a gadget from the desktop does not remove it from the Gadget gallery. The gadget is still installed on the computer.

13. In the Gadget gallery, right-click the All CPU Meter thumbnail and then from the shortcut menu, click Uninstall. Read the message that displays, and then click Uninstall. Close the Gadget gallery.

14. Close Internet Explorer or other web browser, and then submit the printout or WordPad file as directed by your instructor. You have completed More Skills 13
