NUR 312 Pharmacology in Nursing II
Unit II: Drugs That Affect Physical Regulation: Hormonal
Lesson Objectives: At the completion of this lesson, the student will:
1. Identify clinical manifestations caused by deficiency or overactivity of the
1. endocrine system.
2.
2. Describe the classification of hormonal agents.
3. Describe the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the steroid and
protein hormonal agents.
4. Discuss the therapeutic use of hormonal agents and hormone antagonists.
5. Differentiate the side effects and adverse reactions associated with use of
selected hormonal agents.
6. Correlate use of specific hormonal agents with clinical manifestations.
7. Discuss hormonal agents used in health care of women across the life span.
8. Utilize the nursing process to identify specific nursing considerations and
the plan of care for individuals receiving hormonal agents.
