Age of Absolutism Assignment

In groups of two students will research a monarch that thrived during the Age of Absolutism. Each student will have a separate task and will also have to work together with your partner to successfully complete this assignment.

Process

1. You and your partner will be assigned an absolute ruler to research.

2. You will be assigned one of the following roles:

Researcher/Historian:

This person will research one major problem faced by the monarch during their reign and identify one significant accomplishments of the absolute ruler. Explain why these were a problem/significant. Detail is important. They will also find a map showing the territory they ruled during the relevant time period. Ensure that you have the region where your absolute ruler ruled, distinctly marked. In addition, he/she will find a picture of the monarch.

Scribe:

This person will be responsible for answering the questions below.

• Provide a brief biography of your absolute ruler (general info about him or her)

• How long did the ruler reign?

• Were the country’s borders extended during their reign?

• Was this ruler involved in any wars? If yes, what wars, years and against what countries?

• Were there significant social and/or political changes for the country? Did they introduce new policies?

• Did the country prosper economically during the ruler’s reign?

• How did the subjects react to the absolute ruler?

• Was this individual considered an Absolute Monarch or an Enlightenment Absolute Monarch?

• How did this ruler die?

• Who succeeded this ruler after their death?

3. Once you have gathered your information (should be completed on Office 365), you will great an Adobe Spark Page/Web Story. This essentially creates a webpage for your absolute monarch. (). All information will be present on your web story.
