Developing a Business Vision/Mission

Choose a timeframe from one, five to ten years (or more). Next, develop a description of your business and personal future, or if you prefer, write a story, draw a map. Don’t worry about the development of specific goals or action strategies—you will be setting goals and developing business strategies in the Worksheets that follow. Most importantly, ask, What will our farm or business look like in one, five or ten years?

The vision provides the context for designing and managing the changes that will be necessary to reach goals. It provides guiding direction for developing strategy, searching out key opportunities, and making resource allocation decisions. Visions are rooted in reality but focused on the future.
