Development AssociateJob DescriptionThe Greenburgh Nature Center is a non-profit nature preserve set on 33 beautiful acres in the heart of lower Westchester County in Scarsdale, New York. We offer an extensive platform of nature and environmental education for the benefit and enjoyment of our many visitors. Our mission is to ignite passion, curiosity and respect for our natural world. We are seeking a Development Associate to join our team of passionate educators and naturalists. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all Greenburgh Nature Center’s fundraising efforts including grants, membership, major gifts, special events, as well as all external communications including social media, website, quarterly newsletter and mailings. Greenburgh Nature Center’s annual operating budget is $1.2 million. The Development Associate reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Board of Directors in all development and marketing endeavors. ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement fundraising strategies to diversify revenue sourcesOversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing and reportingOversee and expand the membership programMeet with current donors and potential donors on a continual basis to build relationships in coordination with the Executive DirectorDevelop strong cultivation and solicitation programsOversee prospect researchGrow donor lists and levels Coordinate fundraising special eventsOversee fundraising database and tracking systemOversee creation of marketing materials for organization through print and digital communications Supervise and collaborate with Marketing and Communications CoordinatorMake public appearances and accept speaking engagements to share information about Greenburgh Nature Center to the communityPerform other related duties as requested by the Executive Director.RequirementsA bachelor’s degree 3 years of work experience in professional fundraisingExcellent written/oral communication and presentation skillsExperience in securing grants Be a self-starter and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising callsProven ability to handle multiple projects and properly prioritize deadlinesPassion for sustainability and environmentalismValid Driver’s License required Work Days: Full time, salaried position. Salary range $40,000 to $45,000 commensurate with experience. Monday - Friday; 9 AM - 5 PM with flexibility for evening/weekend special events and evening/weekend programs.
