JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE:Development DirectorPROGRAM:Northshore Senior CenterREPORTS TO: CEOFLSA STATUS:ExemptUPDATED / DATE: July 2021SUMMARY: Lead the fundraising efforts of Northshore Senior Center including donor stewardship, event management, grant writing, and community engagement. Engage volunteers and the board of directors to support these efforts. Help communicate the mission/vision/values and impact of our organization to the community at large. This is a full-time exempt position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Development Director duties and responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):Develops annual fundraising plan, and engages various staff, volunteers and board members in helping to execute the plan. Provides regular status reports on the annual fundraising goals.Plan and execute regular fundraising campaigns. Develops and stewards relationships with donors using a moves management approach.Updates donor data base weekly, including adding all new donations and including any updated information about donors/prospects.Provides monthly status reports on the annual fund development goal.Develops and maintains a planned giving program.Plans and executes major annual fundraising events, engaging the board of directors and other volunteers for support.Conducts on-going research of potential grant sources for match with Northshore Senior Center programs and mission, including non-conventional and creative fundraising opportunities. Writes grant proposals, and supports other staff and/or contractors in writing grant proposals.Initiates or coordinates site visits and tours related to potential grants and fund development.Supports community outreach and engagement including participation in various community forums, posting on social media, and developing press releases as needed. Supports development of annual fund development budget, including estimating costs and revenue for all items related to fundraising activities.Other duties as may be assigned.RELATIONSHIPS:Supervised by the Northshore Senior Center CEO.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises volunteers assigned to fund development projects.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience:Bachelor of Arts/Science degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of successful fundraising experience; or four (4) years of demonstratively successful experience with institutional fundraising.Other Qualifications or Skills and Abilities: Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organizationProficient in Microsoft office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.Experience with graphic design via Canva.Experience and comfort with social media. Must be a dynamic leader and manager, detail-oriented, highly organized, a quick learner, able to juggle multiple tasks, activities and dutiesExceptional written, verbal and presentation communications skills, comfort with publicly representing agencyAbility to maintain confidentiality and have a tactful, mature, and sincere attitudeAbility to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member.Note: All employees are subject to WA State Patrol Criminal History Background Check and must complete a Criminal History Self-Disclosure Form.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to talk, read documents, write reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups of volunteers, boards, committees, agency staff, consultants, and outside vendors and contractors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and work with budgets and interpret monthly financial reports. Ability to transform complex mathematical data into clear visual format (graphs, charts, etc.)REASONING ABILITY:Ability to prioritize and problem-solve. Ability to apply common sense understanding and deal effectively with problems and issues as they arise in the normal course of doing business daily, including off-site special events. Ability to work independently and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The job is performed in a nonsmoking, temperature regulated environment with a moderate noise level. Must be able to handle high stress environment. This position requires travel throughout King and Snohomish County and involves occasional weekends or evenings. Some level of remote work may be permitted after on-boarding. ................
