TIMBER SALE NOTICE

“Pend Oreille County Parks Sort Sale - 2017”

Closing Date: February 3, 2017 – 2 PM

Northwest Management, Inc. (NMI) is representing Pend Oreille County Community Development Department in the offering of approximately 400 MBF of sawlogs, 100 tons of hew wood, and 100 tons of pulp on a DELIVERED LOG/SORT SALE basis. This timber sale is comprised of 3 units totaling 71.3 acres within the Rustler’s Gulch Recreation Area (RGRA) and Pend Oreille County Park. Logs may be sold to multiple purchasers. This sale consists of DF, GF, and PP, with lesser amounts of LP, WH, WL, WRC, and WP. Timber description, legal description, and harvest specifications are attached along with maps of the sale area. All timber in this sale package is export restricted.

The timber description and volume estimate information is provided for your evaluation process. Northwest Management, Inc. and Pend Oreille County make no guarantees, representations, or warranties in regard to the timber volumes, quality, or grade. Bidders are urged to inspect the sale areas and make inquiries at our office.

TERMS OF SALE

Successful bidders will be required to post a bid deposit equal to 5% of their total bid amount, based on the estimated sort volume(s) within 5 working days of the award of sale. The bid deposit will be retained as a performance bond until the sale is completed. The bid deposit must be in the form of a cashier’s check made payable to Northwest Management, Inc., 233 Palouse River Drive, Moscow, ID 83843.

The successful bidders will be notified within 5 working days from the closing date.

Successful bidders will be required to execute a firm price Log Purchase Agreement within 5 working days from the notice of award. Successful bidders must execute an NMI Log Purchase Agreement in addition to their respective Log Purchase Agreements. Logs will be scaled using Region 6 (Washington) or Region 1 (Idaho) Scribner Decimal C Log Scale.

If the purchaser has a preferred log size and length, please specify the “preferred log specifications”.

Successful bidders must commit to a firm, fixed price through May 31, 2017.

Unit Descriptions – For Informational Purposes

Unit 8

Location: Rustler’s Gulch Recreation Area

Unit Size: 23.3 Acres

Prescription: Shelterwood harvest consisting primarily of ponderosa pine. All live conifers with a d.b.h. (diameter at breast height) greater than 8 inches which are not banded with orange paint are to be cut. Snags which are not located in yarding corridors or posing a safety risk are to be retained.

Harvest System: This unit will be harvested using a ground-based harvest system with mechanical or conventional falling. Trees must be packed out to skid trails if using mechanized falling. Trees will be skidded whole. Partial suspension is required during skidding.

Road Plan: Use existing road system.

Unit Boundaries: Flagged & painted orange and posted with white “Timber Sale Boundary” tags.

Max Skidding Distance: 1,100 feet

Approx. Volume: 150 MBF – see Page 4 for additional information

Unit 9

Location: Rustler’s Gulch Recreation Area

Unit Size: 20.0 Acres

Prescription: Shelterwood harvest consisting primarily of ponderosa pine. All live conifers with a d.b.h. (diameter at breast height) greater than 8 inches which are not banded with orange paint are to be cut. Snags which are not located in yarding corridors or posing a safety risk are to be retained.

Unit Size: 28.0 Acres

Prescription: Sanitation harvest consisting primarily of Douglas-fir and grand fir. All trees with a blue band and butt mark are designated to be cut. Snags which are not posing a safety risk are to be retained.

Harvest System: Ground-based with conventional or mechanical falling. Trees will be limbed and topped before skidding. Cut-to-length systems are optional.

Road Plan: Use existing road system.

Unit Boundaries: Flagged orange and posted with white “Timber Sale Boundary” tags

Max Skidding Distance: 1,200 feet

Approx. Volume: 125 MBF – see page 4 for additional information
