Three Ex.: Distinguishing the Difference Between Exposition and Example

Goal: Students will determine what evidence could be relevant for their claim and reasons.

Students will do the following:

1. Apply the "3-Ex." strategy to their sources.

Teacher will do the following:

1. Discuss the difference between the source's exposition and source's examples as possible evidence. Emphasize that the source's examples are best supportive material as opposed to the source's exposition and explanation. Students should provide their own exposition and explanation.

Matching Evidence to Claim

Goal: Students will identify evidence relevant to their claim.

Students will do the following:

1. Bring their crash-through paper;

2. Offer a list of most appropriate evidence taken from Activity #1 resources;

3. Construct paragraphs using best supportive evidence and attributive tags;

4. Provide explanation for how the evidence supports the exposition.
