American InterContinental University

Abstract

This is a single paragraph, no indentation is required. The next page will be an abstract; “a brief, comprehensive summary of the contents of the article; it allows the readers to survey the contents of an article quickly” (Publication Manual, 2010). The length of this abstract should be 35-50 words (2-3 sentences). NOTE: the abstract must be on page 2 and the body of the paper will begin on page 3.

We will study the relation between employee benefits satisfaction and three variables about job satisfaction: intrinsic, extrinsic and overall. We will use Microsoft Excel to do the regression analysis and to make the required graphs.

Introduction

Remember to always indent the first line of a paragraph (use the tab key). The introduction should be short (2-3 sentences). The margins, font size, spacing, and font type (italics or plain) are set in APA format. While you may change the names of the headings and subheadings, do not change the font or style of font.

We will study the relation between employee benefits satisfaction and three variables about job satisfaction: intrinsic, extrinsic and overall. Microsoft Excel was used to do the regression analyses and make the graphs. We will find different correlations and different signifances, then we will do a summary with conclusions

Benefits and Intrinsic Job Satisfaction

Regression output from Excel

Copy and paste the results of the regression analysis from Excel using Intrinsic as the dependent variable and Benefits as the independent variable here:

Graph

Copy and paste the graph including the trend line. Be sure that you have labeled your graph correctly.

Benefits and Extrinsic Job Satisfaction

Graph

Copy and paste the graph including the trend line. Be sure that you have labeled your graph correctly.

Benefits and Overall Job Satisfaction

Regression output from Excel

Copy and paste the results of the regression analysis from Excel using Overall Job Satisfaction as the dependent variable and Benefits as the independent variable here:

Key components of the regression analysis

Complete the following chart to identify key components of each regression output.

|Dependent Variable |Slope |Y-intercept |Equation |[pic] |

|Intrinsic |0.006 |5.0749 |Y=0.006x+5.0749 |0.0003 |

|Extrinsic |-0.2329 |6.5035 |Y=-0.2329x+6.5035 |0.3947 |

|Overall |-0.0899 |5.497 |Y=-0.0899x+5.497 |0.0254 |

Similarities and Differences

Identify at least one similarity and one difference from the regression outputs or graphs above.

Answer:

Similarities: y-intercepts are similar in the 3 graphs above , R-square for Intrinsic an

Overall are similar.

Differences: significance levels (p-values) are different,(0.86, 2.13x10-12,0.113)

(Great, low and moderate) values. Also slopes have different signs and (Extrinsic and

Overall are negative while Intrinsic is positive)

Correlation coefficients

Identify the strongest correlation coefficient between the three outputs above and explain why that is the strongest. What does it mean to a manager?

Answer:

Correlation coefficients:

Benefits-Intrinsec: 0.0183

Benefits-Extrinsic: -0.6283 (strongest)

Benefits-Overall: -0.1595

-0.6283 is the strongest value because its absolute value is greater

It means that Extrinsic variable is the most correlated with the Benefits

The manager can say that if we increase the benefits we can expect a decrease in Extrinsic Job Satisfaction. (correlation coefficient is negative and significance is high)

Conclusion

From the 3 regressions done the most important results (greatest correlation and significance) are from Benefits-Extrinsic. We can observe that if we increase the benefits we can expect a decrease in Extrinsic Job Satisfaction.

For the rest of the regressions conclusions are not clear since correlations and significance levels are not high.
