I will stop at any point that the student is confused about or is having trouble comprehending. After each section about an animal, I will stop to ask her which two rhyming words she can find on the page. For example, on the page about a hippo, the two rhyming words are hot and lot. If she is having any trouble finding the words, I will model a few pages for her and remind her that rhyming words belong to the same word family; therefore, they have the same ending sound.Describing AnimalsOnce we are finished reading the book, we will make a list of the animals that we read about. 3390900-257175Once we have a list compiled, we will write down characteristics about each animal. I will use characteristics that she provides me with. They may be characteristics about behavior or appearance. This list will be titled Wild Animals. I will write the list.476250-635 Next, we will compile a list of different animals that may be pets. We will also write characteristics about each of these animals. This list will be titled Tame Animals. We will have a short discussion about the two different lists. We will talk about how the animals are the same and how they are different. ConclusionTo close the lesson, I will give her the following sentence starter: “If I could have a wild animal as a pet, I would choose…..” She will have to finish the sentence and follow it with another sentence about what she would like to do with her pet. Once she has finished writing, she will be able to draw a picture of her and her pet. ................
