|Overview |This book is about how a dollar travels from person to person in many different ways. But all dollars will start at the |

| |same place, which is in the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C. Dollars will be printed onto sheets and |

| |then they will be sent to twelve banks, which are located in different parts of the U.S. Then these Federal Reserve Banks|

| |will send the money to banks in cities, small towns, and neighborhoods. The dollar can be used anywhere, such as movie |

| |theaters, stores, restaurants, and many other places. This book shows how one dollar may be exchanged from one person to |

| |another. The major points in this book are: A kid walking home named Matt finds a dollar and he uses it to buy shoelaces |

| |from Eric. Then Eric spends the dollar on gum at a grocery store. Then a young girl named Jen is the next customer and |

| |she receives the money for change and it ends up at an ice cream store called Carl’s Cones. The journey of one dollar is |

| |shown in the story. Also, through out the story, there are interesting facts given about the dollar bill. This book is |

| |written for ages 5 to 7. |

|Personal Reflection and|I really enjoy reading this book. I feel that it gives children a great idea of how a dollar may be used. It also gives |

|Connection |great information about the dollar. But I feel that maybe to push the book a little more they could have explained how |

| |change is exchanged with a dollar. |

| |To provide discussion, I would ask the students questions: 1. What is this story mostly about? 2. Why does water not |

| |affect the dollar bill? 3. What causes the dollar bill to wear out so quickly? 4. What are some examples |

| |you use a dollar for? |
