2016-2017 Quantitative Merit Goal #2 for Patricia T. Doloughty, Ed.D., Superintendent,

which was approved by the Board of Education June 20, 2016 and the Executive County

Superintendent on June 21, 2016 as follows:

Description of Goal: Conduct action research on the relationship between looping

Kindergarten to Grade 1 for one class at Boudinot, looping Grade 1 to Grade 2 for one

class at Samuel Smith School, looping Grade 3 to Grade 4 for one class at Wilbur Watts

Intermediate School, and looping Grade 6 English Language Arts classes at Wilbur Watts

Intermediate School to Grade 7 at Burlington City High School and student achievement

as measured by the NWEA or PARCC or department assessment administered fall and

spring in all grade and subject area classes. Research shows that there is academic loss

at each transition point in a student's academic life when changing school buildings. We are

looping grade 5 science to Grade 6 at Wilbur Watts Intermediate School and Grade 6 science

at Wilbur Watts Intermediate School to Grade 7 science at Burlington City High School to

determine if there is an increase in student achievement in science when measured by the

NJASK8 Science in 2018 for those students compared to previous years.

Evidence of Completion: Quantitative Goal 2 is completed. The Final Report on 2016-2017 Looping is attached with the supporting data.
