Job TitleTrade Compliance AnalystDepartmentTrade ComplianceReports ToDirector of Global Trade CompliancePosition OverviewThe Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring that Velocity complies with all applicable import and export regulations, including the United States, the Netherlands and Singapore, by developing, implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures, work instructions. The Trade Compliance Analyst is also responsible for ensuring compliance for import and export transactions and providing direct daily support to all business units with regard to the compliant movement of items by and for Velocity in order to deliver exceptional experiences and outcomes.Area(s) of ResponsibilityDevelop, implement and improve Velocity’s global trade compliance program Provide operational support for internal and external customer requests related to imports and exportsEssential FunctionsProvide daily support to all business units with regard to the international movement of items and the maintenance of business partner recordsDevelop new processes and improve existing processes to improve Velocity’s global trade compliance programProvide proactive advice and guidance through process documentation to Sales, Purchasing, Shipping, Quality, Finance and other departments with regard to compliant, efficient and cost-effective practices for customs clearance, international shipping and business partner fraud preventionObserve and seek improvement opportunities in existing and new processes and procedures in order to decrease risk, increase efficiency and reduce costApply for and manage export licenses, as necessaryCollaborate with different departments across Velocity for cross-functional projectsDetermine harmonized tariff schedule codes for items being export and/or imported by Velocity Conduct periodic reviews of Velocity’s import and export transactions for compliance with applicable laws and regulations;Work with approved freight forwarders and customs brokers to ensure exemplary compliance performanceConduct internal training on trade compliance topics;Monitor developments in the trade compliance community and research those that might be used to improve Velocity processes and proceduresManage projects requiring changes to Velocity’s internal ERP system, including documentation of business requirements and user acceptance testingInteract with local government officials, as necessaryOther duties and projects, as assignedEducation, Experience, Knowledge, and TraitsRequiredPreferredEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent4-year college degreeExperience1 year of trade compliance experience2+ years of trade compliance experienceExperience creating documentation such as SOPs, WIs and formsProject management experienceKnowledgeFamiliar with international trade regulationsComputer literateFamiliar with ERP systemsProficient with MS Office or similarFluent in EnglishStrong understanding of international trade regulationsExperience in parts brokerage industryTraitsActs courageouslyDemonstrates mutual respect and trustOwns outcomes / takes responsibility for actionsDetail-oriented and thoroughExcellent judgmentHonestOrganizedAdaptableQuick learnerEfficientCritical thinker and problem solverAble to work with limited oversightExcellent time management skillsAble to handle stressful situations and large workloads Excellent oral and written communication skillsIs amazingWork EnvironmentWork is performed in a typical office environment.
