JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLEDirector of Marketing, Communications and Member EngagementCOMPETENCY LEVEL DDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAs a member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance Senior Management Team (SMT), reporting to the Chief Executive:Develop and lead the Sport and Recreation Alliance’s marketing and communications workProduce and deliver a communications strategy for the Alliance in support of the business plan.Lead the editing, preparation and production of all publications and other print and electronic communications, including the Annual Report, newsletters, briefings etc which are necessary to engage effectively with members and other stakeholders of the Alliance and promote the organisation to the wider sporting community, the media and the general public.?Generate and distribute relevant media releases, newspaper/magazine articles and other copy to a range of media outlets with the clear objective of publicising the Alliance’s aims, activities, achievements and key messages and of raising the profile of the organisation generally.Act as a day-to-day spokesperson for the Alliance. Establish and manage a resource of information on the Alliance to enable the organisation to respond efficiently and accurately to enquiries.Assist the Chair, Chief Executive and other senior Alliance officers as appropriate with the preparation of speeches, presentations etc.Manage the delivery of the Alliance website.Produce and deliver a marketing strategy to support and increase uptake in all Alliance services.Working with the Director of Policy, Governance and Finance provide marketing support in relation to our research and development work.Manage and promote the activities of Alliance Partners both internally and externally as required, with specific responsibility at SMT level for a number of Partners.Develop and lead an internal communications strategy.Membership Support and EngagementLead the delivery of Membership Support.Ensure that membership insight informs the services of the Alliance.Oversee the delivery of all Alliance training events ensuring the programme is insight led.Lead the delivery of the Alliance Flagship events working with other SMT members on content as appropriate.Team LeadershipLine manage all relevant staff members ensuring that their work programmes reflect corporate objectives.Co-ordinate and maintain records of your teams’ progress against operational plan targets.Manage the budgets delegated to you. Live the values of the Alliance and demonstrate our shared commitment to supporting and developing our staff.GeneralWork closely with the other members of the SMT to ensure the effective day-to-day operation of the organisation and the efficient use of resources.Perform any other appropriate duties as may be reasonably required by the Chief Executive from time to time.PERSON SPECIFICATIONExperience and SkillsEssentialSignificant senior management experience which must include strategic planning, communications planning and management, marketing and media relations. Excellent written skills including experience of drafting media releases, briefings, speeches etc.Proven experience of increasing sales/engagement as a result of proactive marketing and communication.Good oral, presentational and interpersonal skills.Established network of media contacts with a track record of delivery.Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.Ability to work at a senior level and develop good working relationships with other sports organisations and stakeholders.Ability to work either in a team or independently.The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.An understanding of, and empathy with, the aims of the organization.DesirableA working knowledge of the sport and recreation landscape in England.A working knowledge of membership organisations.A working knowledge of Parliament and Whitehall.
