SECTION 5 – STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

|Support the Director General to meet Government and Departmental policies and objectives to care and protect children by: |

|Leading and managing the Country Services Division. |

|Providing strategic and operational leadership in the development and implementation of operational policy and practice standards across the State. |

|Leading and managing all protection services for vulnerable children in country district offices. |

|Contributing to the strategic development and management of the Department, as a member of the Corporate Executive. |

SECTION 6 – KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

STRATEGIC DEPARTMENTAL MANAGEMENT

• With assistance from the Assistant Director General State-wide Service Delivery, support the Director General through the strategic leadership, management and development of child protection initiatives and policies.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans in respect to the identification and creation of child protection opportunities and initiatives.

• Contribute to and lead where appropriate the development and implementation of significant operational policy and practice standards.

• Facilitate partnerships and collaboration with State, Commonwealth and non-government organisations in respect to the development and management of child protection services, policies and functions.

• As a member of the Corporate Executive, contribute to the strategic development of the Department.

• Facilitate compliance with relevant legislation, corporate policy and public sector ethics and standards.

STRATEGIC COUNTRY SERVICES MANAGEMENT

• With assistance from the Assistant Director General State-wide Service Delivery, provide strategic leadership and direction in the development and management of child protection services for vulnerable children in the context of families and communities in assigned country district offices in the State.

• Lead and direct policy development in the provision of service activities relevant to country district offices.

• Develop and maintain working partnerships with other government and non-government agencies to establish cross-agency approaches to a range of initiatives, including mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse, domestic violence, emergency management, and troubled youth in remote communities and regional centres.

• Provide a consultancy service to assist in the effectiveness of the range of child protection services provided by the Department in country district offices.

• Represent the Director General on strategic forums, committees and working parties, as required.

DIVISIONAL MANAGEMENT

• Lead and direct the strategic and business planning activities of the Country Services Division.

• Develop and implement the Division Business Plan, and report on outcomes.

• Direct the management and administration of the Division.

• Manage the resources of the Division.

• Promote an ethical leadership culture which encourages innovation, and models collaboration, coordination and partnership with a range of stakeholders involved in child protection activities.
