The Invictus Games Foundation: Commercial and Fundraising DirectorThe Invictus Games Foundation Commercial and Fundraising Director is a key member of the Executive Team reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Trustees of the charity. The Executive is a small team of nine personnel in a deliberately flat structure based on inclusive and collaborative working. There are no direct reports to the Commercial and Fundraising Director. The Commercial and Fundraising Director will establish a multi-faceted commercial structure as part of the next stage in the Foundation’s evolution. Designed to secure a sustainable income base going forward, at its core there will be the development of a fundraising pipeline. It will be a based on a multi-Games approach in which the Foundation is able to offer a number of commercial opportunities to the benefit of the host city. It will also draw on the functions of brand, marketing, intellectual property rights and broadcasting rights to deliver maximum effect. This will be delivered on an international basis but with a particular focus on the UK and USA, noting the location of the Patron. In addition, there will be a requirement to manage existing relationships. Successful candidates will be highly motivated by and passionate about the mission of the Invictus Games Foundation. They will share in the belief that sport has the power to help those suffering from illnesses and injuries, both physical and mental as a result of their service, and will be committed to helping the Foundation realise its visionThey will be able to demonstrate a significant track record of building and managing commercial and high-level donor relationships in addition to securing substantial (six figure) gifts. They will also bring evidence of managing complex stakeholder relationships and a nuanced leadership style with the requisite gravitas and credibility to engage at the highest level. This will include the proven ability and confidence to identify and develop new opportunities. Critically they will be dynamic and entrepreneurial, with a keen eye for detail and strategic outlook. They will be self-starters with high levels of motivation, a “roll your sleeves up attitude” and the ability to operationalise strategy.Key responsibilities:In conjunction with the Executive Team and Board of Trustees, develop a multi-faceted commercial and fundraising strategy that will position the Foundation to maximise its impact globally and in the long term.Ensure appropriate return on investments with regard to commercial and fundraising strategies to meet, or exceed, objectives set by the Foundation. The Director’s target will be ?1.5million in the first year.Identify and lead on new corporate partnerships with a focus on multi-year relationships. This will include leveraging the commercial opportunities arising from the Invictus Games and brand.Identify opportunities for philanthropic income including new donor prospects with a particular focus on US donors.Identify and lead on relevant grant funding applications with the support of the Executive Team.Oversee the effective management and stewardship of existing and ongoing, philanthropic partners and corporate sponsors.Work with the Finance Director to develop and maintain accurate systems for recording and reporting applications made and funds raised.Work collaboratively with other partners, supporters and charities.Work collaboratively with the Operations Director and the Invictus Games host city team to build joint Games and IGF commercial sponsorship arrangements.Lead on the production of a “glossy” annual Impact Report supported by the Executive team.Work with the Finance Director, supporting income forecasting for the Foundation and contribute to annual budget-planning.Work with the Communications Director, ensuring income generation is considered as part of media plans and campaigns, ensuring maximum impact and alignment to meet our Partner commitments.Keep up-to-date with fundraising trends and legislation, and ensure compliance with the Charity Commission, fundraising regulation, and data protection requirements, including the General Data Protection Directive. As a member of the Executive Team, take collective responsibility for leading and managing the Foundation in accordance with the strategy established by the Board of Trustees.Be compelling and professional as an advocate and representative of the Invictus spirit.Required skillsDemonstrable experience and creativity in income generation, fundraising, and achieving targets, derived from both commercial and philanthropic sources through an established network.Experience in operating in both the UK and international environment.Excellent relationship building skills, including the identification of new opportunities, and the ability to engage with key supporters and major donors.Experience in exploring and managing Intellectual Property rightsHighly professional with exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to support, motivate and inspire confidence with colleagues and a range of external stakeholders. Excellent communication skills with the ability to craft and deliver compelling messages and to produce concise, persuasive written information.A strong empathy and engagement with the work of the Foundation, and the desire to drive it forward, bringing energy and determination to its mission.Resilience and the ability to deal with pressure, taking a pragmatic and diplomatic approach.Excellent organisational and administrative skills, and strong attention to detail.Ability to work intuitively with a “can do”, entrepreneurial approach, in a small, fast-paced and dynamic team.Ability to speak powerfully to diverse audiences (including media) in high profile and high-level settingsFinancial acumen and numeracy skills, comfortable with data and budgets.ProcessTo apply please:complete the application form;Provide a copy of your CV and; Prepare a short 1-3 minute video explaining how you would approach the role.
