This position directs and oversees the operation of one co-ed residence hall that includes the supervision and continued development of Resident Assistants. The RD assesses, contributes to, and oversees the implementation and enhancement of student learning within the residence hall environment. The RD assists in student retention initiatives, student conduct, crises response, and occupancy management. In addition to the Resident Director function, this position will also assist in developing and implementing academic support services for students through the Academic Center for Excellence office. The Academic Center for Excellence office resides under the Student Life department and is dedicated to providing academic support services to students.QUALIFICATIONSMust have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, a desire to serve others and a commitment to being a faithful steward of university resourcesBachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred in areas applicable to working with college studentsExperience relevant to a residence director role requiredA comprehension of and commitment to the educational and spiritual objectives of Huntington UniversityAn ability to be innovative and creative to address students’ needs and developmentStrong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skillsRESIDENCE LIFE RESPONSIBILITIES Relating and interacting with residents on a regular basis; providing information and assistance on academic issues, spiritual formation, conflict resolution, etc.; being both visible and available to students. Participating in the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of Resident Assistants and other student employees. Collaborating with other offices and departments to assure residents’ academic needs are being met and institutional resources being leveraged.Providing residence hall programming that focuses on students’ needs and development.Educating, training, advising, and assisting residents concerning Community Life Agreement standards and policies.Performing of administrative duties that include but are not limited to: Compiling reports, maintaining records, overseeing check-ins, check-outs, and room changes.Maintaining key inventory, ordering replacement keys, issuing and receiving keysWorking with maintenance and housekeeping, processing work orders, and inspecting buildings.Managing of residence hall budget accounts.Participating in department and university committees, and other professional development activities.To work closely with the Dean of Students for additional assigned tasks. Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned.ACADEMIC CENTER FOR EXCELLANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Meet with students with disabilities and assist in organizing support services for students with disabilities.
