Responsible for coordinating assessment of the student experience at Huntington University and the dissemination of any findings to the campus community. Assist Huntington University in attaining the aggressive retention goal of a 75%.QUALIFICATIONSCandidates must have a strong personal faith in Jesus ChristA desire to serve others and a commitment to being a faithful steward of university resources.? This role requires a comprehension of and commitment to the educational and spiritual objectives of Huntington University and an understanding of how those relate to student success, persistence and retention to the point of graduation.? Demonstrated skills in presentation, program planning, leadership, organization, data analysis and interpersonal skills are needed.? A Master’s Degree in Counseling, Student Development, Education, Psychology or a related field is preferred.? A minimum of three years of experience in higher education is strongly desired.? The individual must be committed to the mission of Huntington University as a liberal arts institution dedicated to educating men and women to impact our world for Christ.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESActively collaborate with faculty and staff in the design, development, marketing and implementation of programs and services that enhance student success.Work collaboratively with student development and other programmatic areas to facilitate services to enhance student success, customer service and retention.Provide general oversight and supervision for the New Student Orientation program.Identifying and securing faculty involvement as small group leadersHiring and training students who serve as mentorsCoordinating the orientation schedule with faculty leaders, student life and admissionsWork with university relations to keep website up to date and to produce digital and paper materials for orientationWork with the admissions team to coordinate student move-in and promote orientationSupervise the collection of data on student experiences and provide analysis for measurable institutional responses and next-step strategies. Develop recommendations for programs and projects in a manner that is responsive to student needs.Act as an advocate for students and work to find satisfactory responses to student problems with the goal of increasing student persistence.Meet with at-risk students individually regarding issues of persistence.Establish relationships with students through frequent meals in the dining commons and through proactive contacts in a variety of settings.Perform and/or facilitate the execution of individual exit interviews with students departing Huntington UniversityOversee development and implementation of an institutional retention plan.Serve as member of the Council for Student Success.Manage withdraw/non-returning process. Attend annual conferences regarding best retention practices and professional development, and serve as campus expert/consultant on retention matters.Prepare retention tables for the Annual Report of the President.Function as clearinghouse for student “early alert” notifications from concerned faculty and staff members.Participate in campus visit days along with Registration Weekend and new student orientation.Attend enrollment staff meetings.Assist in developing enrollment projections for budget and strategy purposes.Create and maintain content for student retention and success website.Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned by VP of EnrollmentKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:Knowledge of institutional governance Knowledge of the academic enterprise, requirements and traditionsKnowledge of student support services operations, principles and functionsIn-depth knowledge of counseling and advisement procedures/policies/mandatesAbility to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal or external constituentsAbility to write and speak effectively; ability to make presentationsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsKnowledge and understanding of faith-based university operationsDemonstrated ability to work in a teamSupervisor/ leadership skillsProficiency with office software and equipmentAbility to relate to traditional-age college studentsConfidence to interact with faculty, staff and administrationWORK ENVIRONMENT/DRESS CODEIndoor work, office setting, business casual.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTMinimal.PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOBThis position requires occasional climbing, stooping, crawling, lifting, pulling and pushing loads of 50 lbs., carrying and climbing, reaching both high and low.
