Leadership Oakland 2017-2018 ApplicationPROGRAM OVERVIEW Founded to offer Oakland’s current and future leadership the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the role leadership plays in our city, the purpose of Leadership Oakland is three-fold: LO provides participants with a working knowledge of the City of Oakland. Participants receive a first-hand view of the range of private businesses, public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and elected offices that make up the economic and political engine that drives Oakland. LO builds a network of colleagues with similar interests from diverse business and personal backgrounds. This network often serves participants in both professional and personal opportunities well after graduation. LO gives participants the know-how to serve on City Boards and Commissions as well as the boards of nonprofit organizations active in Oakland. With the knowledge, network, and know-how acquired through Leadership Oakland, graduates gain the skills and contacts to move forward to help lead our city into the future.Leadership Oakland combines leadership skill training with an educational opportunity for participants to share perspectives and broaden their understanding of community dynamics and public issues.COST**Early bird/Non-profit: June 1 - July 31, 2017 = $50 application fee + $1,100 registration = $1,150.00August 1 – September 12, 2017 = $50 application fee + $1300 registration = $1,350.00September 13 – September 29, 2017 = $50 application fee + $1500 registration = $1,550.00(a $25 credit card processing fee applies)All breakfasts and lunches provided as well as costs associated with Chamber mixers, Annual Awards Luncheon and graduation ceremony.Application Instructions The final deadline for applying to Leadership Oakland 2017 - 2018 is Friday, September 29, plete each section in full in the space provided and attach any additional information. Half the tuition + $50 application fee must accompany this form or mailed to the Chamber of CommerceThe applicant and the applicant’s employer must sign application.You will receive notification of your acceptance into the program via email once your application has been reviewed. Please allow us time for review. The balance of the tuition is due upon acceptance into the program, or must be paid in full by the orientation on Friday, October 13, 2017. If tuition is not received by the day of orientation, applicant will not be able to participate in orientation. AttendanceIn order for Leadership Oakland to accomplish its stated goals, the full participation of each individual is mandatory. The orientation for Leadership Oakland will take place on Friday, October 13, 2017. The regular program sessions meet all day on the second Friday of each month unless otherwise notified. Graduation will take place upon completion of the program. In addition, you will be required to attend the Chamber’s Annual Luncheon (cost for this event is included in your tuition). If you are unable to make the time commitment, it is not in your best interest to apply at this time.
