If you participate in a DiSC program, you'll be asked to complete a series of questions that produce a detailed report about your personality and behavior. You'll also receive tips related to working with people of other styles. What does DiSC??measure?DiSC measures your tendencies and preferences — your patterns of behavior. It does not measure intelligence, aptitude, mental health or values. DiSC profiles describe human behavior in various situations. For example, the DiSC questionnaire asks about how you respond to challenges, how you influence others, how you respond to rules and procedures, and about your preferred pace of activity. It does not measure every dimension of your personality. The DiSC model discusses four reference points:Dominance – direct, strong-willed and forcefulInfluence—sociable, talkative and livelySteadiness—gentle, accommodating and soft-heartedConscientiousness—private, analytical and logicalPersonality assessments in psychologyPsychologists have been measuring personality traits since the 1930s. Since that time they have strived to better understand personality and to create a way of measuring it. They have become more aware of the complexity of interactive forces that are responsible for any one behavior. Most personality psychologists believe that traits and situations are interactive. This is one reason why DiSC can be so helpful — you can learn to adapt your own responses depending on the DiSC style of the person you're speaking with or your situation. So as a manager, you might choose not to use the behavior you're most comfortable with, but instead use one you know will be more effective with your entire team. ................
