Principals Report

What a fantastic week it has been for our school.

Aboriginal Performance

Firstly I would like to congratulate Mr Kerry Neil for his outstanding work with our Aboriginal students through his program “Shadows No More” which has been running at our school each Tuesday afternoon. Last Friday our students performed a play called ‘Goombuckor’, the man who refused to own up. The performance was fantastic from our students and we were all very proud of them. Mr Neil will be continuing his excellent work at our school. Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the performance.

Chess

Secondly I would like to congratulate our chess teams on their excellent effort in last week’s Primary Interschool Chess competition. We had two chess teams enter with our B grade team winning 3rd place and B reserve team a very close 4th place. Again we thank Mrs Howlin for her excellent organisation of our teams.

Debating

We all wish our two debating teams the best of luck this week, our year 5 team will be debating against Glenreagh this Wednesday at 12.30 in our school hall, and our Year 6 team will be travelling to Ulong for their first match. This competition is part of the Premier’s Debating Challenge.

School Education Director

We welcome Mrs Kim Taylor our School Education Director to our school this Wednesday at 2pm.

P &C

In today’s newsletter there is information re our P&C’s, latest fundraiser. Your support of this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated.

Disco

Next Tuesday our school will be holding a disco with K-2 from 5.00 to 6.00pm and years 3-6 from 6.15 to 8.00pm, in our school hall with the theme ‘Crazy Shirt’. The cost per child will be $3.50 which will include a drink and packet of chips and

$1 of this amount will be donated to Telicia Hyder, to assist her with costs in representing North Coast at the Netball State Titles later this year. See flyer.

It’s a Mad World

The visiting show “its a Mad World” will now be held this Thursday at 9.30am, not Tuesday as mentioned on the permission note. As with any performance etc at our school, students who do not display good behaviour will not be able to attend this show. These students will receive a note today.

Sports Uniform

Our new sports uniform will be available at our school from this Thursday. The cost will be $14 for the shorts and $22 for the shirt. Our sports jacket will be available in 2 weeks time. We are aware of problems buying maroon tights, so we are more than happy for our students to wear navy blue.

Have a great week

Zone Cross Country

On Friday 28th of May, 5 students went to Grafton to compete in the zone cross country champuonships. There were lots of fast kids from all around the area and the track had many long difficult hills and was extremely hard! Everyone had a fun day and finished with amazing results. Thank you Mr Murphy for organising everything and congratulations to all the 5 students that participated, Lani Reynolds, Charlie Azzopardi, Nara Donovan, Donald Craigie and Matthew Pike.

Visiting Rabbitohs

Last week we had a visit from South Sydney Rabbitoh, Beau Champion, and the start of the week our School Rugby League team competed in another fantastic Gala Day, held at Rex Hardacre Oval. Our 2 teams played 3 games each against some really tough competitors. The boy’s improvement was really noticeable and once again true sportsmanship displayed was commendable. Well done players!

Chess News

Last Wednesday our school entered 2 teams in the inter-school chess competition. Both Teams played 10 games against other district teams from both private and public schools. It was a wonderful experience for them all and our students, wearing the new school blazers not only looked great but behaved in a manner that represented our school well. Our thanks go to Mr Gelagin and Mr Sercomb who have been training the students and Mrs Howlin for organising.
