Taipei 101, Mitsukoshi and NYNY department stores are located near Taipei City Hall MRT station. Just walk towards the direction of Mitsukoshi department store. Once you walked through Mistukoshi, you will reach NYNY. NYNY has a connecting bridge to Taipei 101. If you want to go up to the observatory, ticket booth is on the 5th level. I think it costs TW$350 (SG$20) to go up. They will advise you whether is it a good day to visit the observatory as sometimes the weather is too cloudy to see anything.

think all the shopping at big malls like Mitsukoshi 新光三越百货馆, Taipei 101, SOGO ... can cut short and things are rather ex and similar to our taka, BHG, Isetan. Dun have to repeat these places.

Nothing much to see over in Taipei 101, alot of rally going on over there at those exhibition halls...

The shops closed very early around 11pm plus for nite markets and 10plus for Ximenting...so quite boring...

The Shinkong Mitsukoushi is like our OG over there, nothing much to see.

However the SOGO department stores at Zhongxiao Fuxing are good...If you walk down further, you can find great bargains for shoes along the stretches of shops there..

Went to Taipei 101/ Xin Guang San Yue/ XinYi Bookstore/ New York New York. Things there super ex. Taipei 101 is like Paragon that sells all the branded stuff. Wanted to watch movie, but it cost about S$14.50.

Taipei 101 - there is a free shuttle bus to take to n fro the Taipei city hall stn.

from the mall to mrt stn, the shuttle bus point is at the exit where the benetton boutique is... sorry i cant rem whats the road called.

full name is NETS , i dont think they have website.

they have many outlets.. so very easy to find. the XMD one is like 3 storeys. i spent 2hrs there shoppin and trying out the clothes. they have another outlet near taipei main station, opposite xin guang san yue dept store

- Eslite (Books)

Miramar Entertainment Park (shuttle bus to Mirama from "Jian Tan" station which is also the station u stop for Shilin nite market (shuttle bus have the chinese words "Mei Li Hua" on it)

Taipei Underground Mall

Taipei Main Station underground street... They have really cheap footwear comparing to Shihlin Market.

i highly rec girls to go taipei main underground shopping mall to check out first as the clothes there are much cheaper than the WUFENPU leh..( some are 5 bucks, 10 bucks, 15 bucks.. and the most is 20 bucks) i went wufen pu first and regre nv going the taipei main underground cos the clothes damn cheap.. and the shoes are onli 10 bucks(200 NT)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but big foot ladies.. will have a hard time buying(size 39 to 40) cos normally such sizes are sold out.

Underground mall abt 2 to 3 hours will do....there are a total of 3 underground mall; metro mall, city mall and one more which i cannot remember....the ones which u can better explore is the metro mall (zhan qian underground mall) and the city mall (taipei di xia jie)....metro mall has shoes at NT200 to NT390 then city mall has a wide variety of stuff from clothes to vcds to shoes to accessories....

U guys can get real cheap and yet nice shoes from Taipei city Mrt,the underground mall.

It's as cheap as $10 bucks for a pair of shoes, which u can see from bugis street.

The boots are like, wow even cheaper.

Try not to get shoes or boots from Xi meng ding or shilin night market,it's expensive. Those at Taipei City Mrt underground mall is more worth the price

Ladies japanese heels - Zhongxiao Dunhua n Taipei main station has underground malls that sell these at NT200, compared to plcs like XMD sellin at NT390.

-Underground shopping at MRT station is worth to go also, some shops are selling very cheap shoes. (3 pairs for NT500)

TMS Underground Mall (Train back; Metro Mall (Zhan Qian) - shoes; City Mall (Taipei Di Xia Jie) - clothes & Accessories)

Zhong Xiao Dong Lu

Zhong Xiao Dong Lu 忠孝東路SOGO商圈

"-> 微风广场 breeze center (5min walk from Zhongxiao fuxing stn) tokyo hands(台隆手创馆)on either 4th or 5th storey, it is a store that sells alot of japanese provision goods.

zhong xiao is the famous stretch of road no taiwanese wouldnt know. if u lose ur way, just ask. it's located just below zhongxiao fuxing mrt station.

Zhong Xiao Dong Lu is like our CityHall area... all the major shopping centres are all there. I personally dun like to shop there as stuff there are very expensive. But, its worth gg to see-see lah. You can go to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi to see their Lift Ladies! Very cute... other than tat, really noting much to spend so much time there lor.

The underground shopping mall, i feel its a waste of time. Clothes there are old fashioned. I guess probably becuz they cater to the office ladies, tats why the fashion there are mostly executive, almost like DANO and SPACE in Spore....

zhongxiao dong lu .... go after 4pm, the shops in the back alley, many many small alleys to turn into.... behind sogo dept stores.... they're only open at 4, 5pm plus.... more street fashion, prices not cheap...also, along the main street, u will see many mobile stalls selling shoes, clothing, accessories at nite...they're just outside those main shops like samuel&kevin, wanko, sasa etc...... so if u hef no time, can skip this place.... since the mobile stalls items are seen at wu fen pu or

Zhongxiao East Road will be bubbling with hawkers selling clothes and bags and shoes along the streets at night. And there's underground shopping area like our CityLink too.

For Zhongxiao Dunhua.. you can go ding tai feng (although i think the main branch is at xinyi road). The boutique shops there quite unique but expensive and most only open around 1or 2pm. There are also some roadside stalls that have quite good buys.

XMD

Shilin more stuff and cheaper than WFP?

WFP more variety. Go WFP b4 XMD as XMD stuff is from WFP but more ex

XMD most ex among the 3 but can try

As for clothes, it depends on how u see it. I went to Wufenpu and managed to get tops that are less than SGD 20, mostly only abt SGD 10. Best is to look on their discount racks that is normally 1 for 190 or 2 for 300 or 2 for 400 that kind. I didnt ask for discount for those but i did ask for discount for those off racks one. Normally i cut the price down by max 90NT or min 50NT (Usually i only get 1 pc). I think i bought about 30 tops there and managed to get discount for every item though some said they couldnt get any no matter how long they persauded the store owner. I guess it depends on ur luck and whether u visit the right store. However i dun think they like it when u tell them u will consider and come bk, cos i went bk to 1 store to buy the bag and the guy sort of "suan" me and said he cant sell me the price he offered previously. But i still managed to get it discounted in the end.. dunno he joking or wat but i was abit taken aback. Overall i had a rather gd experience there. Oh ya, 1 thing to note is, i notice there arent many bags shops so if they offer u the right price, do grab it. I didnt walked finished the whole wufenpu, only 1/2 of it i think.

But for jeans i gave it a miss cos u cant try, i advised you to go Shilin nm where there is a shop that looks like TF, abt 3 stories (1st = ladies, 2nd&3rd = guys). The jeans is ard 390 - 490NT and best of all you can try them! Pls try every one of them cos their size is not consistent. You might take a M or this and a L for that. Free alternation on the spot too. Their stocks shld be from HK, you know u r in the right shop when you see white tags with the stock from HK on it. I dun really rem the location or the shop name thou. They use a transparent bag with words on it.

As for XMD, i only buy a bag there that is for 190NT, clothes wise i didnt see cos i assumed it would be v exp and they are identical to the ones in Shilin and Wufenpu. You can also shop at Shilin cos they sell almost the same price as Wufenpu (unless u buying in bulk), I managed to get discount for the items too. Just ask nicely. Of cos it would help if u buy 2 or more.

But actually, a lot of stuff found in Hsimenting and some shops in taipei 101 can be found in WuFenPu at lower prices. I started out shopping at Hsimenting but didnt find anything so i can go to WuFenPu and check out the prices there first. After that can come back to Hsimenting and grab the stuff WuFenPu don't have!

Ximending shops start closing around 11 or so whereas Shilin starts open late in the night till abt 2-3am. XMD opens after 11am I believe.. till night time ba. Its not really a night market.. lol, its like shopping centres like tat. The stuffs there are generally more expensive that Wufenpu... especially the department stores..but their gds i believed are japanese imported.

XMD nothing much leh.. the clothes ranges from 20 to 40..so very exp.. but pls go to the organic farm (a skincare shop which is something like face shop) the sheet masks are very cheap.. buy 2 get 1 free..and one is about 65.. so two will be around 130 nT(which is spore 7.5 and which means one mask is about 2 bucks) very cheap for a sheet mask.. i bought 18 masks in total.. and i tried in rainbow hotel.. very GOOD.. woke up next morning feeling smooth..accesories in tt place is quite exp.. around 15 to 20.. so you can forget abt it..

girls who want to get the face/slimming massager (DAO RU JI tt is recommended in NU REN WO ZUI DA) can try the watsons in XMD.. cos they have the infra red massager and the DAO ru ji(Both cost me in total $125(2500 NT)) which is rather ok cos spore dun sell plus auctions selling for prices 80 to 100 in sing dollars.

XMD - On weekdays most shops start closing around 9 - 10pm

Anyway XMD shops close around 11pm

XMD - about 11am open

Shops in XMD opens around 11am. For XMD, most shops close at 11pm.But you can still find some shops open til

almost midnite. I asked the SA over there and they told me usually they will

wait til the last customer leave before closing though their closing hours is at

1030.

What time does shih lin and XMD open and close? Most of the shops there only accept cash? I just can't seems to work out how much to bring as I do not wan to over-change NT$. If most places accept cc then it will be easier for me.

Most of the shops in XMD open after noon and closes at around 10pmish. As for shilin, it's better to shop in the evening. They are open til 1am. If you are getting stuff from shops, most likely you can pay by cards. But in shilin, it's just like roadside stalls so you need to pay by cash.

full name is NETS , i dont think they have website.

they have many outlets.. so very easy to find. the XMD one is like 3 storeys. i spent 2hrs there shoppin and trying out the clothes. they have another outlet near taipei main station, opposite xin guang san yue dept store

buy shoes shoes shoes!! sgd 20 for very nice shoes.. can find at ximenting ang wufenpu.. there are somemore more exp ones.. and much nicer too.. but the sgd20 is good enough... bought 3 pairs! regretting not buying more

WFP

wufenpu for cheap wholesale clothes,

ximending to experience their youth culture but probably can find the same clothes at wufenpu for cheaper prices.

zhongxiao east rd is supposedly the orchard rd of taipei.

around taipei 101 lots of shopping but similar to orchard rd type of malls cuz mainly imported brands which are rather expensive.

shilin night market for night market buys

WuFenPu (Take MRT to Hou Shan Pi Stn/train to Song Sang Station. Open 1pm to 10pm. Avoid Mon. Nicer clothes can be found near Song Sang Station)

Raohe Night Market is behind Song Shan Station (Highly recommended foods: Hu Jiao Bing, mango ice)

to add on.. wufen pu prices are not tt cheap.. but can cut prices by either 50 or 100 NT.. (around spore 15 to 20..) yup..so girls.. pls bargain.. cos they wun offer to cut prices for u..guys stuff not alot also.. so quite lousy.. and there got so many shops.. but be careful as not all shops sell wholesale prices.. some sell retail prices.. do not try the " dun give me discount ..then i leave" trick there.. cos they wun be taken in.. and it is rather malu to go back there again..~oh yeah.. girls .. pls rem to buy jeans there too.. got alot of jeans shops in which they got lots of nice designs(those with diamonds and stuff) and they selling onli for 390 NT(18 Sing dollars) CHEAPPPPP!!! plus can bargain till 350.. hahah..

wufenpu is still great for shopping.. i'm quite satisfied with my junkfood lookalike tees at 150nt, with my conversion rate of 21.8 at mustafa.. it works out to less than 7sgd per tee..

WFP usually opens around 2pm but try to go after 3pm when most shops are open

wu fen pu, it'll be best to go in the afternn, ard 2 pm onwards....cos i reached there ard noon, less than 10% of the shops are open..... mrt station: hou shan pi, exit 1...will see a red color short short building..that is wu fen pu....most of the time cant try the clothes.... a few pieces i bought got defects..such as missing 1 button.....

-Pls plan to go WuFenPu earlier (means 1st or 2nd day of the trip but not the last day), cos the clothes are much cheaper there. We regretted that we bought some clothes at NT390 each and end up found the same one in Wufenpu at only NT280 (price b4 bargaining)

WFP is definitely worth a visit, girl! It is a shopping paradise. At first I was kinda skeptical about gg WFP too so I placed WFP on my last day, reached there at around 4+pm. And oh man I regret not gg earlier! WFP is so big that by 8+ we're only halfway through WFP. And fashion wise surge past XMD and Shilin since it is wholesale. So if you like shopping, I suggest you should head to WFP.

for wu fen pu, the nicer clothes are found near the songsang station instead of houpishan.. by the time i finish exploring and going to leave the place then i realised the "good spot". it is huge and like a maze! something like our bugis village, but more comfortable to move around and the shops are not so tiny.. and a much larger shopping area!!

wufenpu is very huge but have to agree that a lot of the shops sell the same things. i went there thrice during my trip. most of the shops close around 12mn.. so if u plan, can have early dinner, then go straight down to wu fen pu then shop all the way. Cabs there charge midnight fares from 11pm onwards. If you want to catch last train at Houshanpi station, leave around 11 should be quite safe. btw, please remember to bargain at wu fen pu.

Beauty stuff

you can find meiji amino collagen in CosMed, similar to our Guardian store. The shop sign board is orange in colour. It is all over taipei! You can't miss it! And their staff are 10 times more friendly and helpful than our spore staff!

There is 1 outlet in xi men ding, 1 outlet just outside jian tan mrt station, 2 outlets in taipei underground mall, at least 1 outlet in wu fen pu, at least 1 outlet in shilin night market, and a few outlets along the stretch of zhong xiao xin sheng, dunhua, sogo road.

and if u're into makeup, u shd really visit the local pharmacies / stores.

shiseido's majolica majorca, kanebo's kate / testimo / tiffa etc etc.. and plenty of the facial masks..

Watsons

Kate, Majolica Majorca , Tiffa, Kanebo lotions (cheap & gd), Integrate, di fen ni ya (pink packagings).

Cosmed

My beauty diary masks, eye masks, cosmetics stated above, leggings with slimming effect as advertised on nv ren wo zui da, cosmed 3d eyelash curler

Shilin

Went to Shilin to shop instead. Take note that Shilin Night Market is diagonally across JianTan Mrt. Not the one opposite it that only sells food at night. Should try to go there at about 5++pm when all the street hawkers are just opening their stalls so that you can bargain for the cheapest price as they believe that they must make the 1st sale successful otherwise they have no need to sell anything for the rest of the night.

shilin got rather cheap shoes and clothing and i find the food so so... i think the porridge tt they sell there is SUPERB!!sashimi was rather not very cheap..10 bucks for a quite proportionate 9 pieces of sushi.. food is damn cheap at the place..( from 2 to 4 the max)shilin shoes are around 390 NT for boots(in which most of them sold out sizes) and for heels which is abt spore 20. Try not to go after 11 for food on weekdays cos alot of stalls closed le.. then have to eat those not very nice stalls.. weekends deft can cos alot of pple.. even at 11.. all stalls are open.. for the shopping right.. walk to the left of the shihlin market (food).. it is just besides..

Shih Lin Nite Market is big but things there are relatively x compared to Wu Fen Pu.

Compare to Shih Lin, My SO & I prefer Raohe Nite Market. Cheaper stuff can b bought there. Tee Shirt for only NT$100. Bags @ NT$390.

-Shilin nite market (the one that sell clothes & shoes) also very good to shop

For me, Shilin is more on food and accessories (great bargain for long chain necklaces with cute pendent at a shop along the main road. Selling for NT$200 only. Don't buy the necklaces elsewhere cos usually it is above NT200! In Spore we can only get it here for $30+. How to recognise the shop/booth? They have a board hanging above the booth stating 'prices are wholesale price'. The saleslady is pretty and petite.)

shilin night spot has 2 areas! 1 is the food part which is at the mrt stop before shilin... the clothes part is at shilin mrt.. i only found the food part "accidentally" after the next day of going to the clothes part! lucky i did not miss it!

There's shopping in Shilin. You have to get out of the food area and walk into the street beside it....a very long stretch then have many alleys too....it'll probably take you two to three hours to finish them....selling everything from clothes to shoes to accessories....

Birkes

For those planning to get birkes, you can go to the branch at Danshui. They have more variety which I have not seen in SG.

There's a Birkies shop that is along the food street of Shilin, which is rather near the Pineapple Prawns Ball 凤梨虾球 (very nice, should try!)

Birkenstock - abt $70. saw outlets in raohe nite mkt (at the end), taipei main station, danshui (bought mine there, more variety n the service is reali v gd). heard XMD n shilin also hv but i din see.

There's also a Birkies shop over at Danshui. (I think there are only 2 shops in the whole of Taipei. One in Shilin and one in DanShui)

must go shilin there n buy birkenstock

they have a birkenstock counter at taipei main station! Actually, there are birkenstock shops almost everywhere. There's one at Ximenting, one at dihua street night market there, and one at cheng pin (dunhua store)!

Eslite

24hrs Eslite lifestyle bookstore at Dunhua South Road

Eslite bookstore Dong Xiao Dun Hwa MRT Station. Look at the map for the exit and all you have to do it to walk straight after coming out of the exit. It is about 5-10 mins walk from the station.

If you love reading, you can visit Eslite book store (诚品). The main shop beside Taipei City Hall MRT station close at 12 midnight. The shop near the Zhong Xiao Tun Hua MRT station is 24 hours and has a cafe. An interesting and alternative night life.

For bookstores, try the eslite bookstore( 誠品書店) - we went to their 24hour branch at Tunhua South Road 敦化南路, some levels are closed earlier but the main bookstore level operates around the clock, so you can stay as long as you like. there's another branch at Xinyi (信義) that operates regular hours but stands 8-storey tall, didn't get a chance to visit that one, but sure sounds impressive too.

MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing>Eslite Dunhua (Eslite (誠品) flagship bookstore on Tunhua South Road opens 24 hours)

There is one 24H at 敦化南路, near to the MRT station 忠孝敦化. However the books in Eslite is not always the cheapest.

24hr eslite i know is the 敦南誠品 near 忠孝敦化站. i think the biggest branch should be 誠品信義店

General

Their shops don't open that early. So you can sleep in unless you wanna go to faraway places like Wulai or Bali. Shops only open at like 11++am 12pm.

Certain things may be slighty higher priced at the popular night markets e.g. Shilin NM. Found some stuff to be cheaper at Raohe NM. Found cheaper and more variety boots @ the underground malls @ TPE Main stn (heartpain! Regreted buying at Shilin NM). Though certain things only Shilin NM has. So it's worthwhile to visit both Shilin NM and WFP twice. First for a preview and second for the actual buying. However, for WFP, it's very hard to navigate as it's too huge and you can get lost so better buy while you are at the location of the shop. Btw, stockings cheapest @ XMD (surprise! but find the right shop)
