Bill put in a call to Catholic charities to get time on their calendar (we are on their calendar), we can discuss details before then. We will discuss the general topic and if we need to have a more focused session (like teen) then we can set those up separately. given that this is slotted for an hour, it would be best to have one person out to speak vs a panel of people. we will get the literature available for those who may want to know more from that session. The insert on the Wednesday nights was well put together and works well in letting people know what's coming up.positive things about the session with the homeless shelter. there were some who wanted to know if we could continue to help out (dinner once a month?)Small church community core team update: the core team did not meet Sunday, it was moved to next Sunday. Still looking at ways to promote; one such is to have a Lenten small church comm experience. people sign up for 6 weeks to meet with a group and use a resource (based on scripture); Bill has 2 resources that are from renew international (Live Lent and Lenten Longing) which are based on the gospel readings for this year. The Lenten longing is more focused on committing to works of justice and ongoing conversion of hearts.Looking for REP parents, can this be a time for them to participate? Can we create something that is more casually approachable, always there if you want to join in.To have a Lenten experience where people can continue on if they choose once Lent is done.Brian would like to try and find out from those who are not able to attend regularly to understand what they are looking for to try and bring more value to the groups if someone feels they are missing what they expected (they currently meet every other week). to encourage the groups to be more self guided in getting the best value from their sessions. Instituting a retrospective at the end of a run of sessions may be good to get the members to say what went well, what didn't go well and what could be done differently.Lenten plans: Wednesday after ash Wed, how to have a great Lent.People offering things that they have done for Lent that was helpful. Tips or tricks on ways to make your Lent more meaningful. that could be part of the evening and small table discussions. Are there more fun or creative ways to get people to engage in the discussion on what Lent means to them. We want to help poke people into opening up and sharing where they are with Lent and help them evolve their perception of it and what they should experience. can we show people what they should be doing according to the church, and open the discussions. what makes Lent unique from any other time and understanding?our renewal of our baptismal promises. Like when your anniversary comes around, you reflect on the positives of why you married that person. We would like to have Emily give a presentation and then table sharing to help everyone have a great Lent. ?How can we have a Great Lent?Since we are looking to provide a booklet then can we also have small groups to get people more involved. Sundays seem to be difficult to coordinate to enable families to stay after mass.FFC?Leadership and succession: annual group ends in May and reconvenes in June. Brian is looking to step down from Chair after this cycle and would like to continue to participate but not as chair. There are 3 positions open. Brian would like for the group to keep in mind the positions and their interest for the next cycle.Chair puts together the agenda.Vice-chair follows up when the chair is not available.Recording secretary captures and posts notes from each session.?Del's points to ponder: Brian brought up the points from this weekend on social justice. that there are reactions on these topics. we may not know what Catholic social teaching is on the subject. Can we look into this as a topic for our efforts and address the social topics? Jesus was very clear on what we are supposed to do. We should have something on what is Catholic social teaching into 2018. The outreach commission is also looking at this (starting small) and getting some literature they discuss. ................
