IntroductionPurpose of this research My future professional career is Disney product planner in Japan. To be a Disney product planner, I have things I want to know. It is important to know where I need to get a job to make my dream come true. I can make my effort to the target by setting the company I want to enter. And, I want to know what I should do to enter Product Planning Department, which makes products plans of the company. Significance　　　　 In order to fulfill my purpose in the project, I should know the way I have to choose in the future. If I know the necessary qualifications and knowledge to make my future professional career real, I can work on them from now. It is necessary to do what I can now to establish an ideal career in the future. This project is to find what I need to do and find a way to make my dreams come true..Research QuestionI set two research questions in this project. First, Which company should I work for so that I can plan and make Disney products? It is very important to research companies in advance and raise the motivation. Second, what kind of human resources are required of the company I selected, especially the Product Planning Department? Knowing this information helps me choosing classes and finding the qualifications I need. Through these research questions, I will find which way I should go and what I can prepare to go into the way.Methods 3-1. Data Collection I collected data from the internet. There is a lot of information on the Internet, but there is also unreliable information. However, this method is most efficient to get the latest information. Therefore, it is possible to examine more diverse information, compare and examine. First, I searched company making Disney products by using words such as Disney products, Disney licenses and so on. Once the company's information was gathered, I collected data about each company and gathered more detailed company information. In doing so, I tried to collect information on the official site that I could trust. Taking into account the data collected in this way, I derived the answer of research question 1. Next, I tried to collect data from the company's official recruitment site and the famous site where recruitment information of various companies was published. However, the only qualification to apply the company was to graduate from university. However, the purpose of this project cannot be achieved with only this information. In other words, even though there is a goal, it will spend the university life without knowing what to do for that. Therefore, I shifted my focus from the qualifications necessary for joining the company to the qualifications and abilities to work. I collected information such as the company's corporate culture and job description from the official website, and based on that information, I considered the necessary skills, abilities, and qualifications that would be powerful in my own way.3-2. Data Analysis I analyzed the data from three points: reliability, quantity, and content. Only reliable data can be used as a source of evidence, and knowledge from that data can be confident. And, the small amount of data is not appropriate as collecting data because most of the information looking for is not listed or not credited. Also, If the data found doesn't have information that leads to research question, it is necessary to look for different data. Results & Discussion4-1. Answer & Interpretation for RQ 1　　　 I found that to enter Oriental Land Company (OLC) is the best way to make my dream come true. Firstly, I narrow down to companies in Japan because I want to work in Japan. Then, I found two companies that produce Disney characters goods. One is OLC and other is Walt Disney Japan Company. Comparing these two companies, I selected the company which has larger number of new graduates recruited every year and gives priority to hope 4-2. Answer & Interpretation for RQ 2 I wanted to know two kinds of skill I need, one is to enter the company, and another is required after joining the company. Firstly, I searched OLC application guidelines to know the requirement to apply for the company. It is only necessary thing that graduating from a four year or six-year university or graduate school. Studying and graduating from university is a prerequisite for many companies other than Oriental Land. And, the required tests and abilities are not described in OLC application guidelines. Secondly, I investigated what the company place important on and how products are made in the company. It is because that I think learning about the company and find the skills in the company is important. OLC’s corporate mission is to provide wonderful dreams, emotions, joy as a person, and peace of mind based on free and fresh ideas. To achieve this mission, the key word is happiness. The starting point of OLC, which has expanded from theme parks to themed resorts, and other businesses, is the provision of happiness.It is a product that plays a role to have happiness taken home as a memory. Products are sold through processes such as analysis, planning, development, production and quality control. These steps take 13months. In addition, the product continues to evolve with improvements that refer to internal and external voices. The planning stage includes market analysis, idea creation, and selecting and communicating with business partners. So, knowledge of analysis and communication skills, and skills to analyze the company are required. The development stage includes planning designs that express the world view of theme parks based on the concept, and confirmation of safety. The ability to accurately convey concepts and images to designers is required. In the stage of improvement after the product is released, investigation and the preparation of improvement proposals based on it are needed.Conclusion5-1. English & Career Development OLC does not mention about TOEIC score in the application guidelines. TOEIC mainly requires English reading skill. So, if the TOEIC score needed, it is necessary for employees of the company to know the grammar of English and to be able to read English fast. In other words, reading skill isn’t required for the work of OLC. But it doesn’t mean that employees working for OLC need not to have every kinds of English skills. Many products produced by OLC uses English words in various places such as designs and titles. Also, there are so many displays written in English in the Tokyo Disney Resort. So, knowledge of English words is necessary. Not knowing the meaning, background, or correct use of words may lead to incorrect interpretation or the use of inappropriate English words. In addition, not limited to OLC, in the product planning department of any company, it is essential to know the terminology of marketing. Marketing uses lots of English. For example, English is used in many marketing terms such as 4P, STP, and MM. To be familiar with the meaning of these terms is necessary to work smoothly and produce good products. And in order to do that, it is necessary to have knowledge of English related to marketing. And more, learning English will broaden choices after getting a job. I want to produce Disney products, so to join OLC is the best way. However, there are other ways. It is to plan and produce products at Walt Disney Japan. Having marketing experience at a company and being able to speak English at the business conversation are required to enter this profession. So, learning business-level English increases workplaces and improves skills.From the above, it is required to improve English vocabulary and speaking skills rather than English reading skills.5-2. Two-year plan for future career　　　 There is no required qualification other than graduating from university. In other words, many people can apply to this company because they are not narrowed down at the time of recruitment. So, it is important to make a difference with others in that. I think that it is better to have the qualification which becomes proof of having the ability. One of the qualifications which I should take is the Business Career Test. It is a test that acquires the knowledge necessary to perform a job and evaluates practical skills. And it is divided into eight areas, but I want to receive marketing among them. Having a qualification for the Business Career Test should be a great advantage to be superior to others because I can tell the company what kind of ability I have and how motivated I am to work.Another one is TOEIC. Although it isn’t necessary to get high score in the TOEIC, it is necessary to show that English ability is at the general level of society. In general, it is said that the border line is 600 points to write on a resume of many companies. So, I must get at least 600 points. So, I set the goal of getting more than 700 points. In order to achieve this goal, I want to study continuously, such as learning English words when going to school and listening for at least 15 minutes a day.Taking into account the schedule of these test I mentioned above, I set a specific goal step. The first step is acquiring a BASIC level qualification on the Business Career Test and getting more than 650 points at the TOEIC before I reach the third grade. The second step is acquiring a third-grade qualification on the Business Career Test and getting more than 700 points by November of the third year. I want to take these steps and acquire the necessary skills so that I can join the OLC and work related to product planning. 5-3. Summary of research project I think this project is a step towards realizing my dream of making many people happy with Disney products that I will have planned.
