2019 Barnett Family Reunion

Celebrate our first family reunion in Orlando, Fl (July 18-21, 2019)

Dear Family Members:

The 2019 Barnett Family Reunion Committee is very pleased to announce the details of our very first reunion in Orlando, FL. We have noticed that our family has grown; so, this is our attempt to get everyone together, share our history, and create new memories.

We are honored to plan and host our family reunion and hope this will be a memorable event. We have worked hard to put together a weekend of activities and entertainment that all will enjoy.

We have limited the activities to one each day so everyone can have some free time to spend however they wish. We have also planned an on-site meal where we can all get together and (hopefully) catch up.

Orlando is located in Central Florida. It is the center of the Orlando metropolitan area, which had a population of 2,387,138, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released in March 2016.

The City of Orlando is nicknamed "The City Beautiful", and its symbol is the fountain at Lake Eola. Orlando is also known as "The Theme Park Capital of the World" and in 2016 its tourist attractions and events drew more than 68,000,000 visitors. The Orlando International Airport (MCO or OIA) is the thirteenth-busiest airport in the United States and the 29th-busiest in the world.

Whether it’s a trip for families, couples, single travelers or a group of friends, Orlando is the perfect destination — and it’s all down to incredible diversity that ensures an unforgettable vacation filled with unique experiences for everyone.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any suggestions.

Sincerely,

Your 2019 Barnett Family Reunion Planning Committee.

Theme Parks When it comes to theme parks then Orlando in Florida is quite simply the mecca for theme park fans from across the world.

It is therefore unsurprising that Orlando is now called the “Theme Park Capital of the World” and why families all over the globe travel here to spend weeks and sometimes even months visiting all the different theme parks in the region.

Check out our guide to the top five.

Universal Studios Florida

Universal Studios is often regarded as the crème de la crème of theme parks and with rides such as Despicable Me, Shrek, The Simpsons and The Terminator; it is no surprise.

The great thing about Universal Studios is that it is perfect for people of all ages as its stunning parades and shows are great to keep young children amused, while some of the park’s roller coasters and other rides will give adults plenty to scream about.

All in all, Universal Studios Orlando is great for the whole family.

Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park

No list would be complete without Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park as it self-proclaims it is the place where ‘Fairytale dreams come true for children of all ages’.

The park boasts a range of attractions such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Cinderella Castle, the Jungle Cruise, Tom Sawyer Island and loads more.

Islands of Adventure

Next door to Universal Studios is Islands of Adventure and this theme park is home to some of the most thrilling rides.

Buying tickets for the wizarding world of Harry Potter will not only grant you access to both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, but also its jaw-dropping rides. You can literally fly on a dragon and explore Hogwarts and Diagon Alley.

If that’s not enough, then take a raft ride on the Jurassic Park River Adventure, meet all your favorite superheroes at the Marvel Super Hero Island and ride on its number of jaw-clenching roller coasters, or get drenched in Toon Lagoon.

The Islands of Adventure theme park offers so much that sometimes visitors need two days to test out all of its rides.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s second installment of theme park fun to make our top 5 things to do in Orlando is their Hollywood Studios. This is where movie magic comes alive, with the collection of family-friendly shows, rides, and attractions inspired by Disney’s 1930s and 1940s films drawing in millions every year. Rides like ‘Tower of Terror’ and the ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Coaster’ provide some more heartbeat raising excitement alongside live action rides and immersive simulators. Movie buffs shouldn’t forget to check out the excellent ‘Animation Courtyard’ either, home to a few particularly interesting exhibits detailing the life and work of Walt Disney himself

Epcot

Epcot’s huge spherical design is one of the most instantly recognizable images of Disney World, and the theme park houses some of the most interesting innovative attractions in the whole of Orlando. Rather than focusing on rollercoasters and Mickey Mouse – firm fixtures at Disney’s other three parks, emphasis at Epcot is more on science and technology, with an overall vision to ‘celebrate the human spirit’. Head to ‘Future World’ for all the cool science stuff in the form of rides, simulators and exhibitions, or explore the ‘World Showcase’ to learn more about the culture and cuisine of various countries around the world

Beaches There are five popular Florida beaches on the East Coast within 75 minutes of Orlando and several more Florida Beaches on the Gulf Coast that are worth the

1. Cocoa Beach: driving time: about 1 hour, 5 minutes

2. Daytona Beach: driving time: about 1 hour, 7 minutes.

3. New Smyrna Beach: driving time: about 1 hour, 8 minutes

4. Canaveral National Seashore: driving time: about 1 hour, 9 minutes.

5:  Flagler Beach , driving time: about 1 hour, 10 minutes.
