This includes student textbooks and resources, which will be utilized for instruction. Please come through the Parent Pick Up lot to pick your materials up. If you are picking up a laptop or hotspot, you must have your identification with you. ** As we move forward this school year in the Distance Learning environment, our teachers may ask that you periodically pick up school materials that are pertinent to the lessons they have planned. Your child’s teacher will communicate this to you.Lunch and breakfast: If you wish to pick up breakfast and lunch for your child, please come to the bus loading area between 9:00 - 9:30. A pre-packaged breakfast and lunch will be available to Osceola students each day. In order to receive breakfast, the student must be with you. Schoology: Please review the Schoology link for parents. . You may also want to join one of the schoology parent trainings available next week. Please see the attached flyer for details. iReady: Your child’s teacher will give you and your child more information regarding the use of iReady and the iReady assessments. All students are responsible for completing 45 minutes of iReady instruction in both ELA and Math. Distance Learning Attendance and Expectations: Instruction, assignments and assessments are completed through an online platform with a certified teacher. The calendar matches the brick & mortar calendar with a daily schedule that includes a specific time designated for each course. School-Based Distance Learning school hours match brick & mortar school hours. Live and/or pre-recorded lessons will be provided daily by the teacher. Attendance is recorded daily. Engagement is monitored daily via interaction with the teacher and completion of assignments. School staff will provide advisement to a different instructional model when a student does not demonstrate adequate progress in distance learning. Learning Schedule: Your child’s teacher will be in contact with you to share the Distance Learning Schedule. All Distance Learners are required to participate in ELA and Math instruction every day. Science and Social studies instruction will be required once per week. Distance Learners must log in to learning sessions or they will be marked absent, tardy or early dismissal.Students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): If your student has an IEP, please be on the lookout for communication from your child’s case manager once school has begun. The case manager will be contacting you to share how your student’s needs will be met during distance learning. This plan will be based on the current IEP.Learning space at home: Please provide a quiet, organized learning space for your child, free from any distractions that may appear on the screen. This is especially important for when your child is engaged in online instruction with his/her classmates and teachers, working on iReady and working online with the teacher. This space will also be needed when your child is completing their written assignments.Grading: Grading expectations for distance learners will be the same as expectations for students in the Brick and Mortar classroom.Meet the Teacher and Virtual Orientation: On Tuesday, August 25th, your child’s new teacher will contact you through email to introduce her/himself. They will also send you the zoom invite for the virtual orientation. Please have your child with you during this call.This year we will conduct our open house virtually and that includes our distance learners. The orientation will be Friday, August 28th at the times listed below.PreK 8:30-9:10First 9:20-10:00Second 10:00-10:40Third 10:40-11:20Fourth 11:20-12:00Fifth 1:00-1:40Kindergarten orientation will be on Thursday, August 27th, 10:00-10:30.Distance Learning Dress Code and Behavior: When attending class through schoology, the same dress code and behavior expectations will be followed as per the St. Johns County School District Code of Conduct.School Supplies: It is recommended that you purchase the school supplies that are recommended for your child’s grade level. These will help your child complete distance learning activities and assignments and prepare your child when he/she returns to the brick and mortar classroom. ................
