Minutes from IMIA Corporate Division Conference Call:

July 29, 2008

10am PST / 12pm Central / 1pm EST

Present: Gladys Erickson, Erickson Translations, Inc.; Guadalupe Garcia, Loyola University Program; Inna Persits-Gimelberg, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation; Jeanette Anders, Language Line; Jonathan Levy, Cyracom

Moderator:  Cynthia Schenck, IMIA board member

Note taker:  Esther Phillips, CCCS, Inc

Unfinished items:

1. A continuing conversation on when would be the best time to hold the Corporate meeting at the IMIA conference.  Suggestion offered were:  Friday early (Jonathan), Friday afternoon or Saturday morning (Jeanette) Gladys approved of Friday and Esther agreed but after Bruce Adelson and before the evening activities.

2. Jonathan mentioned the need for an Agenda for Corporation Meeting so as to save time and be progressive.  We all agreed.

3. Esther drafted a Message from the IMIA Corporate Sponsors  (this is not yet the title but just to represent the idea) She read it to the participants and it was agreed to accept the draft and send it to Izabel for consideration.  Suggestions on where to consider it and display it were:

a. Ask the President to read it at the beginning of the program as a Welcome from the Sponsors!

b. Make posters and have them displayed at the entrance of the main auditorium (grand ballroom??), or hanging at the entryway of the exhibitors area.

c. Have it displayed as a Message on the back of the IMIA program or as a flyer.

New Items:

Cynthia mentioned the fund-raising committee and the need to be aware of fund-raising opportunities.  We need to direct our attention toward sponsors who aren’t yet members as well as and she invited us to draft a letter to send out to such private parties and/or organizations who are eager to help organizations like the IMIA with the financial support needed to reach its objectives.

Jeanette volunteered to draft a letter for this purpose and bring it up at the next conference call. Other items:  Inna would appreciate receiving less eblasts and job eblasts.  Cynthia will email Marzena and ask her to remove all but the corporate notices and trainings.  Others decided to continue to received IMIA news and read it as time permits.

Communication and reaching our audience:  Inna said to try regular post; Cynthia mentions an email with eye-catching graphics; Jeanette prefers email invitation with action words in the subject line like:  time-sensitive or call to action!

Looking ahead:  Cynthia has an idea about spreading our message and brought up the possibility of having a corporate member accompany a Board member to conferences, presentations, etc.
