Subject: 2019 Fantasy Football League Season

Welcome ladies and gentleman, the 2019 football season is fast approaching. It is time to start getting ready for the draft that will be held at River Vale Country Club in River Vale, on the 4th of September 2019 at 7:00 p.m. The cut off date for this year’s 6 keepers is August 20th. A date to be determined to reduce your roster to 10 will be in July. You must make sure your team is reduced by each date or your current team will be put into a hat and the first players drawn will be your keepers. (“The Rush Rule” Ouch!) This year is no different from past seasons, as it will pose new challenges for all owners. As usual, your dedicated commissioners were hard at work during the off-season to maintain the best Fantasy Football League. There have been a several changes for the upcoming season. Here is a summary of the rules and regulations governing our league.

Each team will have a roster of 16 players, which will be made up of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, kickers, and defensive/defensive special teams.

Each week your team will play a game against another fantasy team and based on the score your starting lineup obtains compared to your opponent’s starting lineup, a winner and loser will be determined.

The weekly starting lineups will consist of 9 players as follows:

One quarterback

Two running backs

Two wide receivers

One tight end

One flex player WR or RB

One kicker

One defensive/defensive special team

The scoring will be determined as per the league website . I encourage you to familiarize yourself with each player scoring rules.

If there is a discrepancy regarding the scoring of a player during a particular week, please contact the commissioner with your concern. The statistical service has been known to make some errors. The commissioner will try to catch all he can but it is YOUR responsibility to calculate your weekly score and compare to the statistical service generated score. The online service does make adjustments to the scoring based upon the NFL final statistics that are generated the following week. Thursday the week after is the deadline for the NFL. Games have been known to change, just ask Gashouse and the Overachievers for the Championship game. The league will always go with the official NFL scoring. If there is a discrepancy, the official box score will be taken from .

If an owner has a concern regarding a particular situation, he is to address the commissioner with his concern. If deemed necessary by the commissioner, he will consult the co-commissioner regarding the owners concern. The owner will have the opportunity to present his case to both commissioners for a ruling. It is important during this time that the owner does not distort the facts while explaining to each commissioner. The commissioner and only the commissioner will have the authority to institute a league vote if deemed appropriate. It is in the owner’s best interest to address his concern directly with the commissioner in a professional manner. Keep in mind that rulings are made for what is best for the league NOT a particular situation. In other words, tread lightly; I have been known to throw out family members at will. Even twice. Waivers

To allow for draft mistakes, injuries, and news flashes, a team may during the year make waiver moves each costing $3.00. Keep in mind when making waivers, that you must maintain a 16-player roster at all times during the season. Waiver order will be determined by starting with the reverse draft order. Then each team utilizing a waive will go to the back of the line rotation. The league website keeps a tumbling waiver order. Waivers should be submitted by at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday thru Saturday. Waivers can be made up until the last starting lineup is handed in on the last regular season game. Any player that is waived by a team during one week will not be made available until the following week.

Please note that any attempt to utilize the waiver system to enhance a players contract years will be voided. Example, if you drop a player with 2 years left on his contract and have the first pick in the waiver order, acquiring that same player is not allowed.

All waiver fees will be divided equally and redistributed amongst all 10 teams for a year end party or the following draft day.

The league fees of $200.00 must be paid on draft day.

No potential owners can draft unless fee is paid!

In case of a tie during a game, the kicker will be used to determine the tiebreaker. The kicker who scored more points will determine the winner. Our league has adopted decimal scoring so the likelihood of a tie should be remote.

Your weekly starting lineup should be entered on the website prior to the scheduled start time. In the event of a Thursday or Saturday game, waivers must be submitted on the previous day by 7:30 p.m. and lineups on the day of the game. Keep an eye on the starting times of the NFL games as we have seen the overseas games begin early Sunday morning. All of the owners are well versed with the website. Any problems or concerns let me know.

It should be noted that there are 17 weeks this year with each NFL team receiving 1 week off. Be careful in drafting that you do not pick players whom all have the same week off or it may cost you waiver moves or force a trade.

If a team fails to change their starting lineup and consists of a player on a weekly bye, that team will first receive a warning. The second time will be penalized a draft pick starting with the 4th round. If that same team AGAIN submits a starting lineup with a player on a weekly bye, that team will be penalized a 3rd round pick. The lost pick will be given back at the end of the 10th round to replace the 4th round pick and the 9th round to replace the 3rd round. If you hit 3 weeks of not submitting a proper lineup, it’s called 3 strikes you’re out. This rule has been named “THE SMUSH RULE”. Please keep in mind you are affecting other teams in a playoff hunt. Being irresponsible is unfair to your fellow owners that are trying to make the playoffs. Your irresponsibility has a domino effect with wins, losses and points scored. Very simply in today’s world of smart phones and access to the league website through an app, there is no reason to submit a lineup with a player on a bye. I don’t care what country you flew too with your bride, girlfriend, playmate or call girl (OD).

Trades

During the season, owners are allowed to trade players. Keep in mind that the commissioners will maintain the integrity of the league and must approve all trades. If a commissioner is involved in a potential trade, the other commissioner will review the trade. Trades will not be allowed after the first game of the week is played (usually Thursday night). The trading deadline will be before the week 11 games begin. The integrity of the league is extremely important and the commissioner will veto any trades he deems inappropriate. Please ask yourself one question, “How does this trade help me?”. If the answer is “it does not” then prepare for a veto. I will not prevent a bad trade, as it is subjective, just any that are blatantly obvious.

Due to the fact that the fantasy football league owners are located through out the New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania area, a mid-season trade night will be set during October. Your attendance is strongly encouraged. This has not happened in years but we will give a shot.

NOTE: All rules are subject to further interpretation during the year by the commissioners. In the event of a situation during the year that is not covered by our rules and regulations, the commissioners will make a determination on the issue. This determination will be in the best interest of the league. This decision may require a league vote if deemed necessary by the commissioners. If any rules are unclear, we strongly recommend you contact the commissioners. Remember this is for fun. (This is my disclaimer due to Chuck Cannon.)

LEAGUE STRUCTURE

I. Regular Season

2 Divisions of 5 teams

13 regular season games

2 against each other team in your division

1 against each team in the other divisions

II. Playoffs

6 teams will make the playoffs, 3 from each division

The first place team in each division will make the playoffs and receive a first round bye.

The next top 2 teams from each division will make the playoffs as wild card teams. All wild card teams will be seeded 1 thru 4 so games are not subject to division only.

During the playoffs, each team will be allowed one waiver per week. This waiver can only be used if the team does not have a viable option at that position. Example, if a team has only 1 quarterback and he is listed as questionable or worse that week, the fantasy team will be allowed to make the waiver. If the fantasy team has another quarterback on their roster and is playing that week, they will not be allowed to make the waiver and be forced to play that quarterback. Any player that is listed as questionable is NOT a viable option. This waiver is not restricted to injuries as we have seen with NFL suspensions.

Wild Card Round - The four wild card teams will play each other with the winner advancing to the Championship round. (Week 14)

Championship Round - The second round of the playoffs will consist of the winner of the wild card game against one of the division winners. Division winners ranked 1 & 2, Wild card ranked 3 & 4. (Week 15)

Fantasy Bowl – The winner of each Championship game will play each other for the Ultimate Prize in Fantasy Sports. (Week 16)

III. Playoff ranking tiebreakers

In the event of a tie between 2 teams, the 1st tiebreaker is head to head & the 2nd is points scored and the third is a coin flip. In the event more than 2 teams have the same record, the tiebreaker will be total points scored. The team with the most points scored will take precedent.

Note: Division winners always take precedent!

Playoff game tiebreakers

Just as in the regular season, the kicker will be used to determine the tiebreaker. The kicker who scored more points will determine the winner. If both teams have the same amount of points from the kicker, then quarterback will be used.
