This partnership can make (or break) the success of her party, and your business!Developing the?relationship?between you and your host is an integral part of making the partnership bloom!? There some basic steps in creating that partnership and building this stream of income. It is essential that you let your hostess know that you are in partnership with her!? Let her know that without her, you wouldn’t have a business and without you, she would not reap the rewards of hostess rewards.Part of any business is the desire for profit, share with her that you WANT her to have a successful party and reap the monetary (hostess) rewards.Empowerment and Recognition:?? One of the most important aspects of working with women is to recognize and empower them!? Women spend much of their time caring for others and putting themselves last!? To recognize her is to empower her!??Ex:? “Susan, success in my Scentsy business comes from partnering with bright, motivated and creative people!? I chose you to do this party, because you are someone I WANT to work with!? You’ll be incredible at hosting this event!? I know you are such a (good cook, fun, sweet, ect.) person and every one of your friends loves to be around you!”?Your host is essentially a consultant, and every consultant needs training!?Her first hurdle in a basket party is to discover WHO her customers are!? Help her to brainstorm a “guest list”.? See the attached ABC list.? A basket party is no different than a home party, in that she needs customers! The next step is to help her get over the hurdle of “NO”.?? These are some great strategies for helping her jump the hurdle:Harness your fear – just like a horse has a harness to control its movement, we too can harness our fear and control ourselves.Focus Outside Yourself – A no is not about you, it’s not about your product.? A no could just be, I’m out of cash, I’m having a bad day, and my kids drive me crazy!Resistance Building – For every 10 no’s there is one YES!? To build your (her) resistance to No, is effective.? With a basket party, do a little role playing with her – teach her how to respond to the No!Build Execution – Ask her to imagine how wonderful her home will smell with all her new Scentsy!? In her mind, have her feel and smell the cozy atmosphere scent will play in her home.? Think how much her husband will feel relaxed after a long day at work, coming home to an inviting atmosphere – which only scent can create! The Do’s!As in any good partnership, there are certain things you need to support in each other!? Let’s talk to her about some of the great things you can do together, and that you will support her in doing!Ask her to contact some of her dearest friends, you know – the ones that love you even when your house is dirty!!? This is also her first practice at harnessing her fear – who else but your besties, will support and encourage you!Promotion!? To work in partnership and to maximize success for both of you, you MUST advertise!? Let all your friends and acquaintances’ notices know what the two of you are doing –post it on Facebook, MySpace, Digg…. Any social media you and she frequent!? Don’t forget to keep bringing it to the top of your profile stream – otherwise “out of sight, out of mind!”Talk to people you know that love Scentsy!? Ask them who their consultant is, most people will say, I don’t remember… I got it as a gift, a fair, an event…. She moved, or she doesn’t sell it anymore!? People that already have Scentsy in their homes are her BEST customers!? She is now their source... WOW, that’s powerful!Teaching the Ropes!Be prepared!? To maximize HER success, encourage her to have her business supplies (the basket kit) with her at all times!Know the details!? It is crucial that she knows how to fill in an order form, figure tax and shipping! And… make sure she has a full understanding of the product.? Go thru the FAQ with her; make it an integral part of her business supplies!Give her a system to keep her orders organized, whether it is an envelope, list, etc.? Give her the opportunity to maximize her time by having a good organizational system! Why not a YES!Expect a no – get a no... Expect a YES – get a YES!Ask your customer to Buy!? This is a hard task for many women!? Often we say, come to my party, or smell the scents in my basket… but you don’t have to buy anything!? This is a serious mistake!? The people she is sharing Scentsy with KNOW that she is having a party, and they know that buying from her will help her!?Teach her the signals of a buyer!? The person who smells all the scents, who pours over the catalog, the ones that make eye contact and nod as she shares Scentsy?Have your partner make sure there is an order form in every catalog she hands out… and always ask for the sale… did you see anything you liked?... I LOVE the Dotty warmer…ohhh, the Sticky Cinnamon Bun scent is amazing!?Follow-up; as a good partner, when she hands out a catalog, teach her to follow up with those that got a catalog – “what did you think?”, “wouldn’t you love to have one of these in your home, which one do you want!”How to encourage your partnerLead with your heart… listen to her… acknowledge how she is feeling.? If it’s been tough getting orders – acknowledge that and strategize ways for her to make more contact with prospective buyersAccountability and Action:? Make sure that your partner has a goal.? You have a goal for your business, as should she!? What does she want from the catalog?? What is your goal with your partner?? Is it sales, bookings or recruits?? Make sure that you each share your goals and be accountable to each other…. Follow up!!!Let her know you care about her!? Listen… don’t talk!? Show genuine care and interest in her life, her day, her children.? Use reflective language, you aren’t there to solve her problems, your goal is to acknowledge them! The Elevator Speech!Teach her how to present the product with a 60 second commercial!? Her commercial should be engaging, fun and informative.? This commercial should “peak” the interest of the person she is talking to!Give her an example of your elevator speech (oh! you don’t have one… ?)? It could be as simple as “I’ve got an amazing party going on! The fragrance is fabulous and my home always feels cozy, now that I have a Scentsy!? Can I share some of the scents with you?”Practice her commercial with her – give her confidence, by KNOWING her commercial! Her commercial is to interest the person she is speaking to – not to bore them with details, it’s a tease! The customer (because they’re all customers, right?!!!), will want her to share the product, she’s peaked their interest!By partnering with your hostess, you become a powerful team!? She’ll get the results she wants and you’ll get the results you want… and you’ve just trained your future recruit how to work her business! How to Incent the Basket Party Hostesses To Book Parties from her GuestsThere are many ways to incent hostesses for parties booked?Find something in your budget (People are all about the FREE)Scentsy already has a? great hostess plan that you can make work for you without giving anything away for freeExample:? You can tell your host that for anyone who books a party off them they will get another ? priced item at the bookies party (you can use your extra ? price item at the next party for the previous host and you won’t come out of pocket)Some other ?Ideas ( from the Forum and other consultants)If a host can get three parties to book and HOLD, then they'll receive a free plug in of their choiceFor every party booked host will receive a free bar or scent circleFor every party booked host will receive $5 free product creditYou could even make yourself Scentsy money and make it any amount you would like…could be $1 or $2 free product credit for every party book and heldFor every three parties booked the hostess gets one free bar and the person that books a party with me gets a $3.00 creditThe sky is the limit with different options of giving free or half priced items to incent your host to get bookings, just keep in mind the budget you would like to keepOnline Parties(Brandy – Small Group Leader, Jenny, Annie, Lyssa, Julie L)Hostess Package: For someone who wants to do an online party some suggestions would be as follows: Sending an email with directions would be a great way to start! The more visual person may need a hard copy to bring the products to life.Buy, host, join brochures to see the incentives for each.Scent and Warmer of the month flyer.Scent samples; another way to bring our products to life!Unique Online Party InvitationsConsider the uniqueness of THIS type of party, how can your host present Scentsy without using the SENSES.? Consider creating an online invitation that involves something visual that can bring the smells to mind, example:Join me for a lovely evening of divine scents! But do it at your leisure, from the comfort of your own home! It’s an online party! An extra thing to consider:Be sure to remind your hostess that, while she has invited specific people, posting the link on her social networks of choice is also a wonderful idea!Coaching your Online Hostess:Keep in mind ANY host is still a host.?? Like any other party it is important to build a great relationship with your host and make them your partner. Get them their info as soon as possible, whether sending by email or mailing a hostess package. Before the party:Have them fill out a wish list in advance.Have the host develop a guest list.Discuss how long the party will be open. It should be kept at 1-2 weeks with a definite closing date.Review the types of invitations your host would like to send, and set up either evites or personal invitations for her.Discuss the goals he/she would like to reach by having the party; see that she knows just how much needs to be sold to reach the goals.Make it a point to either meet with hostess if local, or have a phone conversation about their hostess package and anything and everything they need to know about having the party.Remind hostess if they get bookings off their party they will qualify for more rewards.Follow up and make sure a reminder about the party is sent out a few days to a week prior to the opening of the party. While Party is OpenTouch base with host to see if they have any questions or concerns.Check progress on work station.Make sure guests are clicking on link and orders are being added to party.Keep track of the total amount of the party. Updating your host as to what rewards have been earned can be great motivation. After the PartyOnce all orders are in and paid for calculate party total (excluding tax) ??Show what her/his rewards are and help guide them, so they are able to get the most for what they have earned.?Ask is this seems like something she/he could see themselves doing After the PartyTouch base with hostess on outcome of the party so they can decide on their free product and half-priced items.Talk with your host about the benefits of selling Scentsy. You can decide exactly what you want to do and what you would like to give. For an online party this can be different from a home party or even a basket party. A good idea for this type of party is giving the hostess a gift just for having the online party. This can be something small like a Scent Circle/Travel tin or it could be something big. It’s your call. A great way to incent your host is to set goals. Examples:Reach $150 in sales and get a free barReach $250 in sales and get a free plug inReach $400 in sales and get a Full Size SystemRemember: You always get a half priced item for booking the show. This can be a cost effective option for rewarding your hostess. Just remember this is up to you and you can make it whatever fits in your budget. How to maximize success with your Online Hostess:First and foremost like any other party it is important to build a great relationship with your hostess and make them your partner.Get them their info as soon as possible. You don’t have to send them a host package but sometimes this is helpful so they have an actual catalog in hand to refer to if they are asked any questions. Also so they have a copy of buy, host , join brochures and they are able to look at the incentives for each.Have them fill out a wish list in advance.Walk them through the website and all paperwork sent and EXPLAIN IT!Make sure that the hostess explains to her guests that they MUST click through the link for their party or the hostess will NOT get party credit!? You CAN NOT correct this and link it to the party after the fact.Using the Party Hostess Manager on the workstation to send out evites may not be as effective as we’d like, so using or emailing a direct link to your hostess will be much more effective in getting their parties word out. This is something you can either create for them and send them the link or suggest it to them and have them make an evite that works for them. Encourage your hostesses to promote their parties thru social media (Facebook, MySpace, etc).Make sure they know all facts about how online orders ship and are charged in case they are asked questions by their guests, such as:All online orders are charged tax according zip code of where items are being sentAll online orders are according to Scentsy shipping policy so make sure hostess is aware of these policies. All online orders automatically ship and do not wait until the party closes.Keep communication open with you hostess and check in with them often.Check party progress through the workstation regularly. How to Educate your Online Hostess about Scentsy With Intent to SellWhen having an online party, we hope the host has either already own some Scentsy products or has come in contact with it prior to the party. But if not, consider what you could send her to familiarize her with the product. This is up to you, whether it be photos and scent samples or a demo warmer to use and show her friends. And when explaining Scentsy to her, always remember that YOUR passion and enthusiasm is contagious to your customers! Here are some different ideas of ways to approach Scentsy! The health perspective:? No soot, nothing burns, essential oils have fewer effects on allergies, nothing burning to breathe in, wax never dissipates. The safety factor: No fire, no risk of fire, no one can get burned. The quality of the product, watch Rocks to Warmers for demo of how warmers are created.?(You can send this to them if you decide to send them a hostess package)The economics: Once you buy a warmer, your only cost is wax.? I Scentsy bar = 1 large jar at Yankee Candle, present the document Candle Comparison for guests to view.Aromatherapy:? From soothing lavender to invigorating lemon, our scents are sure to affect more than just the nose! The cleanliness of the product: Scentsy wax easily comes out of clothing, carpet, and won’t put black marks on your cabinets/walls. The conversation piece: Anyone who doesn’t know Scentsy will talk to you about your warmer when they come into your house, the product is so unique. The variety: There are over 80 different scents, and new ones come out twice a year. The decorative factor:? With so many different styles of warmers, Scentsy provides something beautiful for everyone.? Our styles are great for bed, bath, kitchen, bathroom, or anywhere in between.Encouraging/Incent your Online Host to Book Other Parties:There are many ways to Encourage/Incent hostesses for parties booked: First and foremost find something within your budget. There is no need to break the bank when doing this, find something that is affordable to you and your business.People are all about the FREE, but Scentsy already has a great hostess plan that you can make work for you if FREE is not in YOUR budget.Example: You can tell your host that for anyone who books a party off them they will get another ? item at the bookies party (you can use your extra ? price item at the next party for the previous host and it won’t come out of your pocket). If a host can get three parties to book and HOLD, then they'll receive a free plug in of their choice. For every party booked host will receive a free bar or scent circle. For every party booked host will receive $5 free product creditYou could even make yourself Scentsy money and make it any amount you would like…could be $1 or $2 free product credit for every party book and held. For every three parties booked the hostess gets one free bar and the person that books a party with me gets a $3.00 credit. The sky is the limit with different options of giving free or half priced items to incent your host to get bookings just keep in mind the budget you would like to keep.In the end as long as hosts and potential hosts feel like they are being rewarded for their efforts in having a party they will be happy with whatever incentive you offer.Home Parties(Julie L – Small Group Leader, Julie F. Lyssa, Genia, Dale)Personal Party PlanMy goals for a party is 10-5-2-1.? I Got this from Mary Christianson.? For each party I would like for there to be 10 guests, $500 min sales, 2 party bookings, and 1 new recruit.? This may not always work out, but it is what my goal is.Prior to the party I talk to the Hostess.? Based on what she tells me about her expected guests is how I do a party.? ?I do talk about hosting and recruiting at least 3 times throughout the party.? But If she says they are just there to buy product, then that is what I push.?If she says they will be open to bookings, then I will mention that more. I will stack her to show what they can earn. Then I will play a game geared toward booking parties.?If she tells me someone may be interested in signing up, then I play a game geared toward recruiting.? I will have open questions and give tickets for each question asked about my business.? The person with the most tickets gets to pick from my prize bucket.?As I do my presentation, I watch the guests and make a mental note about who to talk to about booking or recruiting when they turn in orders. No two parties are the same.? But this is usually how my presentation goes.?I start setting up and talk with the hostess while doing this.? We decide on what games to play and talk a little about any pre-orders.? I remind her of MY specials .? We decide on a date to close the party.? As people come in we chat a little.? A few minutes before party starts when most guests arrive I hand out folders.?-Introduce myself and tell them a little bit about how I got started selling Scentsy and why I love it.? We usually play the Scentsy story game.-Thank the hostess (and give a hostess gift if I am going to).? Ask the guests to introduce themselves.? I ask them to tell me their name, how they know the hostess, if they have ever heard of or tried Scentsy (and if so...what do they love about it).? This turns into a nice "warm fuzzy" for the hostess because usually the guests say really nice things about the hostess!-Ask guests to fill out the door prize entry form (if giving out a door prize) and then draw for it.I tell them about the “I forgot game” which goes on all night.- ?I then start to explain the product line. I walk them through the catalog as I do this.At that point? I ask them if they have any questions and if not...I let them go and smell the party testers that I have set out throughout the party space! When I take orders I ask if they would willing to host a party or to join my team.? I answer any other questions they may have.?At the end of the party I talk with the hostess and tell her where she is at this time.??Maximizing Success with your Hostess:Here is some great information about how to maximize success with your hostess! We all could use a little more success in our lives. Sometimes it can be so easy to not take the extra time with our hostesses. Following these steps will ensure a successful party and future business. We want to show our hostesses and guests that we are a step above. We care about them and want to make sure that they are completely satisfied.?Before The Party:Giving a successful home party starts with being organized way before the show happens!! Party planning should start from the day you book the date for your hostesses’ party. Make sure that you give your future hostess a hostess package (including as much information as possible without being overwhelmed). Make sure you write the date down in your planner as well and put the party up on your website so that way people can start ordering as soon as possible if they are out of town. A great way to get things going to to have your future hostess write down names and address of guests that they would like to invite. This can go one of two ways. You can either have her mail out invitations or even just get the list back to you for you to do so. Roughly 3 days before the party call your hostess and check in with her. Have her call her friends just to remind them about the party and even throw out an incentive if they bring a friend. Everyone loves free stuff!?During the Party:Dressing for the party is Key. Business casual is always a great way to go unless it's a more formal event then obviously business attire would be the better way to go. Just look at the situation, you always want to look the part. If you have a Scentsy button or shirt this would be the best time to wear it! You want to always try and arrive about 30 mins early to set up your display and get a warmer going. This will draw in the crowds and get the conversations going. After doing a little coaching with your hostess be ready to stand with her and greet her guests as they arrive. Introduce yourself and be personable. You want to leave an impression on her guests. You want to make sure you start the party on time and then just accommodate those who arrive a few mins late. Starting the party with a game is always a great ice-breaker! It is always a great way to get everyone pumped and thinking how fun this is and maybe I should host a party of my own! After the game and giving out prizes it's time to introduce Scentsy to all the guests. You also want to formally thank your hostess and give her a gift if you choose to do so. Playing another game sometimes will help to keep the party rolling at this point. After you have talked about the product and demoed it let the guests know that you are available for questions. You want to make sure that you take the time to sit down with each of them individually to go over everything. Ask each of them if they would like to host their own fantastic Scentsy Party or even becoming a consultant. Do not underestimate the importance of this step. Sometimes all it takes is someone asking!?After the Party:Your party does not end with the closing of the show. The hostess and your guests have now become part of your contacts. One of the best things to do is send out personalized thank you cards to your hostess and her guests. This will leave a lasting impression on everyone. Taking the extra step to just say thank you will do wonders for your business. Make sure you place your hostess and her guests on your newsletter or to your future mailings. You want to include them in this because then they will have Scentsy on the brain at least once a month. Send out monthly fliers, sales specials, invitations to open houses, and even throw out a mystery hostess party once in a while.?How To Incent Hostesses to Book Parties from her Guests? The point is to make the party fun so guests will show up, have a good time, and get over their phobia of attending home party plan events.?Your parties can be as simple or as elaborate as you and/or your hostess desireParty PlanI start setting up and talk with the hostess while doing this.? We decide on what games to play and talk a little about any pre-orders.? I remind her of MY specials .? We decide on a date to close the party.? As people come in we chat?a little.? I walk them through the catalog as I do this.?Full-size Warmers (show that they use a 25 watt light bulb and have an off/on switch, $30 each, great variety in styles - I usually then show whatever ones I have there at this point.?I explain that it holds 2-3 (up to 6) cubes of wax from a Scentsy Bar.? At this point I usually also show the warmer of the month and the bar of the month and explain that they are 10 percent off during the month they are introduced and are technically available *while supplies last.*?Mid Sizes Warmers - Uses a 20 watt globe bulb.? Uses 2 cubes of wax.?Plug Ins - ?1 cube of wax only from a bar,15 watt night light bulb.? I then usually show what I have there. I take a plug-in apart to show the light bulb to them and to also show them that the base (where it plugs into the wall) turns for outlets that are sideways and upside down).? I then usually tell them that the wax will NOT dissolve, and they will know that it's time to change the wax out when it no longer smells.? I tell them that they can simply dump the wax from the large warmer right into the trash can (with a liner) and that it won't burn the liner.??They can then wipe the warmer out with a paper towel and put new wax in.? I show them two ways to get the wax out of the plug in so that they won't yank it out of the wall and drip it all over the floor/wall.? They can take the top piece off (twist) and then dump the wax right into a trash can and wipe out or they can take a paper towel or tissue and gently set it into the top of the plug-in and let it suck up the wax.? They can then use a second tissue/paper towel to wipe it clean.?Scentsy Bars and Bricks:?I show them a Scentsy bar and how it comes apart into 8 cubes.? I repeat the info about how many cubes for a warmer and plug-in.? I tell them that the bar is guaranteed for 50-80 hours of smell time and is only $5.? I tell them that they can mix and match the bars if they are interested in any of the multipacks I then show them the brick.? I tell them that it is a full lb of wax - more than 6x the size of a Scentsy bar and only $20.? I do encourage them to buy the Scentsy bars if they are a new Scentsy customer though and explain that a brick is a TON of wax if you decide you don't love the scent!? They are great for customers who have found scents that they love...but often it's better to start with the bars.??I put my hands into the wax at every party to show them that it doesn't get hot enough to burn.? I tell them that it's safe enough to leave on 24/7.? I tell them that I typically turn my warmers (not plug ins) off at night to extend the life of the scent, but that I have many customers who leave them on 24/7.? I tell them that the wax is non-toxic - so while I wouldn't recommend eating it...it won't kill them if they do!? :)?I use the example of my cat who licks the wax.? I explain that the wax is a very soft and pliable wax and that it is very easy to peel and scrape off the wall/floor if it spills.Room Sprays and Car Candles and Travel Tins:I show them a car candle great for more than just cars...closets, diaper pails, etc.? I show them a room spray, highly concentrated, a little squirt goes a LONG way).? I show them a travel tin and tell them it does NOT come in all the Scents. At that point I tell them a little bit about opportunities to host a party or join my Scentsy team.? I have never been one to push recruitment, I do tell them how inexpensive it is to sign up and how you only have to place $150 in orders one out of every 3 months!?? I tell them that I'd be happy to answer any questions that they have about it and would love to talk to them about it if they are interested.? I also tell them about hostess benefits - free product and 1/2 price items.? I show them the benefits in the catalogs.??If I am offering an incentive to book a party I tell them what it is at this point.??I don't really push this hard? either - I don't want someone to commit to it and then back out, but I always have response on this - it's never a hard sell!? I tell them that they can do an online party, a basket party (which I explain) or a traditional party.? I show them the basket party testers and how easy it is to take a basket to work with them.?At that point? I ask them if they have any questions and if not...I let them go and smell the party testers that I have set out throughout the party space!?When I take orders I ask if they would willing to host a party.? I answer any other questions they may have.?At the end of the party I talk with the hostess and tell her where she is at at this time.?How to Encourage Advance Bookings? Are you having a tough time booking Parties?Put your THEME party’s to work for you. It is fun and easy to do.Between the holidays, into the New Year, Vacations and even in the middle our hostesses can come up with some good excuses why NOT to have a party….. But now here is a Great Excuse WHY to have a Party~?Don’t forget you can incorporate fun themes into your party presentation to fit you and your hostess’s personality, Pajama, Death by Chocolate, Wii and Wine (Wii bowling teams…) or how about a Beach Bash, or Fondue Fun. Maybe an “Around the World” (using all of the new warmers that seem to be from Around the World .like the zebra- could be a safari, Morocco, English Ivy, Celtic love knot…etc.? ) ..Or “have you been there?” and get an extra 10% off your?item.make them prove it!I love the Poor man party below—you know where you auction off w/ pretend bucks—(give out fake money for certain criteria) listed or make up your own) ..In today’s economy, who wouldn’t love a “free” warmer and make them work for it.or free bars or whatever items you want to auction off.have several products to make it fun and lively.? Then set up your sale.? You can even throw in the Scentsy spatulas or pens or whatever little “give away’s” you have. You can make a coupon for later use to auction off too! Ex. $15.00 for use in the month of May or $ 5.00 for the month of August.? It’s your auction! How To Reward Hostesses To Keep Them HappyHere are some ideas:There are a lot of different ways to set up your hostess gift and incentive scheme, and ultimately it’s up to you to decide what works for you. The most important thing is that your hostess feels the rewards are worth the effort of hosting a party. And the more generous your incentives, the more likely it is that new people will be motivated to host a party for you too.I do think it’s important to give a hostess gift just for hosting the party, regardless of the number of guests that turn up and how much they buy. A lot of potential hostesses are worried they won’t be able to get enough guests and that they won’t buy enough, so if you show them that is not all you’re concerned about, they’re more likely to ‘give it a go’.And chances are she will then try her hardest and there will be plenty of guests and sales! Although I make quite varied amounts at different home parties, I haven’t had one yet where the sales didn’t make a hostess gift worthwhile.Tip:?Choose a small hostess gift that she'll appreciate but that doesn’t cost you too much in terms of time or materials. In addition to a thank you gift, you should also have a way of rewarding hostesses for lots of sales.1. Basic commission:Scenty’s Hostess Reward program.2. Bonus rewards:In addition to the above incentive give the hostess a gift voucher for every guest who books their own party at hers – making the voucher valid from the date of that party onwards. This does seem to encourage the hostess to tell her friends how great it is to host a party!RECRUITINGYour hostess is always your #1 potential recruit. She all ready loves the products. Here are a few other things to look for:Someone who seems to hang on every word you say (eye contact),Someone who tells?the other guests about the products she loves and/or ideas for useSomeone who lingers after the demonstration and/or around your display.?Someone who asks a lot of questions about the product and especially about how the compensation plan works.?Someone who hates her job, works part-time, is a stay at home mom, has worked in another direct selling company.Someone who has lots of bookings (offer them to her and tell her she has a great start all ready)Someone who is excited about the productsSomeone who places a large order?Someone who brought a friendIs a repeat customerBasically, anyone is a potential recruit. Take the time to get to know your guests. If they feel comfortable with you, they’ll open up to you. Even if you missed any of the signs above, you never know what circumstances will change for people. Maybe the time isn’t right for them now, but could be later. How to Talk to Potential RecruitPotential recruits! They are everywhere, even at a Basket Party!Start a conversation about what you love about Scentsy of course and let the exuberance of your love for Scentsy shine through in your voice and demeanor. Not many people can say that they love their jobs. But Scentsy Consultants can! They win people over simply by sharing the joy that they have.Your conversation starter can be your Scentsy “gear” or Scentsy “wear”, a button?or a sticker, a shirt or hat, a binder, a lap top bag or the branding on your auto! But mostly your conversation about Scentsy begins smile and your voice, your happiness in the way you share the great product, the great opportunity and the great fellowship of giving more than you get! Can you feel the Scentsy love yet??Let's say you know or meet someone that needs money, how would you start that conversation?“The economy is so rough for everyone, including me! My husband is out of work, I’m working 2 jobs, just to make ends meet”. OR… “I really understand how much it takes to keep our families going…Have you ever thought about direct sales?” “The direct sales I’m referring to are of course through home parties and events, not door to door. Would you be interested in having some information on the products and how to get started?” You've shared your story with a stay-at-home mom basket party hostess, what would be some good questions and/or starters for her?“How could the extra income help you and your family?” “Would you be able to find time in your day to work on Scentsy, to call customers, work orders?” “Would you be able to get out of the house to do a party or perhaps work basket parties and/or events?” “These are feasible alternatives if you don’t have the support system for child care if you can’t take them with you!”How would you start a conversation with a GenY?They want jobs where they can make friends, which is very important to them. SCENTSY IS PERFECT FOR THEM! SCENTSY IS WHERE YOU MAKE FRIENDS BECAUSE YOU KEEP ON CONNECTING AND BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS AND YOUR CONSULTANTS.“I have made more friends and met some of the best people working with Scentsy” “Scentsy always has travel incentives, a fantastic convention each year and warm, giving people” “The friends that I have made, both customers and fellow consultants will be friends for life” and” I have begun to help build a nest egg for my future!” It's important to ask questions, rather than to assume that you know what your friends and leads are going through. There is most likely something that you can find a connection to. Find a common thread, a way that you can build something. But most of all, “plant seeds” some will not grow at all, some will grow slowly and some will sprout quickly…Tend your garden of recruits…!Recruiting TipsTwelve Recruiting TipsOne of the first mistakes everyone makes in Recruiting was trying to find that one "perfect" Recruit, that you overlook the other nine who would also been "good" in this business.Different people have different qualities. We constantly try to look or listen for those qualities which make a good designer. Don't look for someone who is "Miss Perfect". Nobody is perfect, but everyone can develop the qualities they need to succeed. Encourage the fine qualities the person does have.Talk recruiting to everyone, but don't try to recruit everyone. There is a difference. Try to look for people who are outgoing, ambitious, fun-loving, and who have a sense of creativity. Women and men who are like this are easier to Recruit and they are more likely to stay with it.Never recruit with the idea of "what's in it for me". Always be willing to help people with the great opportunity. After all someone offered it to you.Don't wait for someone to approach you. Nine times out of ten, they won't.Don't think of recruiting only on parties, Recruits are everywhere you go. Just Listen!Listen to their needs and show how our company can fill them. For instance, if someone needs extra income and wants a job, don't tell her about the cruises or other prizes. Chances are she won't believe you simply because she can't relate to it. Respond with the information she needs to know.Anytime you find the qualities we look for in a recruit, tell her about them and how they would benefit her and enhance her/his life and family through Scentsy. She may not even be aware of them.Look for someone who smiles and can get along with people, one who loves the products and believes that your company is best for her.Always let them see this JOB as the business it is, as the career they can develop. Whether they want to work full-time or part-time, it is still a job to be done to the best of their ability. If you see your business as a job, so will they.Take her with you on your job, let her actually see how it all works and show her your profit. If you made it look hard, it is over but if it looks easy, she will want to be a part of it. Remember Duplication is your goal!Listen to the woman who loves everything, can't afford much, is looking for a job, bored, and/or wanting something to do because their children are grown or they want to stay home with their children. Please don't bypass people who have careers now- for these are the people who want to work and make something of their lives.Recruit Lead Tip SheetGood solid leads not only increase your chances of recruiting new agents, they also increase your unit strength! To help you increase your recruiting success here are a few tips on what to look and listen for when gathering recruit leads.People who need extra moneyPeople who are boredSomeone who is temporarily out of work (male or female)Party guests who give the most input about your productThe guest with the largest orderGuests who ask lots of questionsPart time workerMothers with small childrenWomen whose families are grownPeople who bring extra guests to a showPeople who are not working now but would like to find something to occupy their time.Anyone who stares at you during the presentationThe guest who picks up a product and demonstrates itThe guest who lingers after the presentationThe person who is naturally attracted to you as a personAnyone who needs money or is dissatisfied with their jobThe person who is looking to buy a car or any type of luxuryPeople who want promotions at their jobPeople who nod their head when you give your recruit talkThe person who is kid crazy and needs a night outThe person who is 40 middle class and bored?APO/FPO Parties:(Julie L)Hostess PacketRewards Flyer Warmer of the Month Flyer Shipping APO/FPO FlyerSample order form as well as order formsCatalogsInvitationsWax sampleDirections explaining how to direct guests to order online.Meeting With Your HostessWhen you first sit down to meet with your hostess it needs to be about 3 weeks out from her party date.? That’s not always possible.? Most of the time everyone is stuck in the location they live in.? So a hostess may not contact you until about a week out from the date she wishes to book.As soon as you have that booking, set up a meeting at her house to give her the hostess packet.? During that meeting you are going to go over everything in that packet.Show your hostess the WOTM flyer and explain the 10% off, making sure to point out that if it’s added in a multipack then the 10% off does not apply to the warmer or the scent.Show her the Hostess Rewards flyer.? Explain how her rewards work and what’s included/not included.?? Make sure to explain why the Patriot Collection applies toward neither; that the proceeds go towards Military Programs. Explain the same for the cause warmer and college warmers. Recruiting In an APO/FPOAPO/FPO Hostesses make great recruits!? They are practically in a train station.? You sign them up and they branch out in other locations as they move.? With the upcoming expansion into the UK and Germany, there is even more opportunity for not only your team but as a way to really get them launched into the business and maintain success.?PCSing season sends out customers and brings in new people, people who have never heard of Scentsy.? The biggest customers are the ones that have never bought from Scentsy.Starting in a new country gives the opportunity to introduce Scentsy. Not only that but you’ll be able to recruit consultants who are not limited to who they can sell to.? For example, in Japan you can only sell to Americans.? Or what we call SOFA Status.? Selling to the Japanese local nationals is not allowed.? But with Scentsy opening in the UK and Germany you will be able to recruit consultants that can choose to be UK or Germany consultants and then they’ve opened up a whole new group of customers.? You may not be able to reach them but someone on your team can.So recruit as much as you can.? Don’t be pushy about it, but explain the opportunity to your hostesses as well as their potential for growth in the next three years.Direct Shipping To APO/FPONext show your hostess the APO/FPO Flyer on shipping.? This is where you’ll want to explain WHY there are specific rules for shipping to a Military Postal Service (MPS).?Explaining that Taxpayers pay for MPS is likely to set them off briefly,? so you may want to point out this is a Military Rule that Scentsy is following and has put policies in place to ensure that consultants follow the rules and don’t risk their mailboxes or stay in their current location.MPS Policy states that all orders must Direct Ship to the Customer and not to the Hostess or Consultant.? If it were to ship to the Hostess or Consultant that would be intent to resell and would violate the policy.Make sure that you let them know Scentsy did this so we, as consultants, could continue to work and earn extra money while overseas.? The same applies for the hostess,? Scentsy is protecting them by following this regulation.Get one of the Sample order forms and point out the shipping rules.? Shipping is $7 flat for order $34.99 and below.? And 20% of the order total for orders $35.00 and above.?Point out that Scentsy has 10 days to ship it from the warehouse, however most orders arrive within 8-10 business days.?The plus side to this is that Scentsy will cover the replacement cost if it arrives broken.? And by having it Direct Ship there are no taxes to pay.Keep The Food LightMost Hostesses will put out food.? Typically this has nothing to do with the consultant.? Except a hostess is far less likely to book with you or anyone again if it cost her a fortune in food for the party. What does this have to do with APO/FPO? Well for instance in Okinawa, Japan a Fruit and Veggie Tray can run a hostess around $60 just for small trays.? She’s not likely to increase her party size if she has to spring for larger amounts of food.? So let her know it’s okay to keep the food light. She will appreciate the reassurance.?Think of those hostesses that go all out for food and now are filling their half priced items with bars instead of multipacks.? She won’t be strapped for cash when she gets the chance to get the half-priced items and so it will feel like a successful party to her, and she’ll likely book with you again.I Don’t Really Know AnyoneYou’ll hear this often.? A hostess will have just arrived.? She may know her neighbors and 5 people seems like enough.? So why not have that party and not invite anyone else?? Simple, those 5 neighbors may have been invited to a kid’s birthday party or want to take off and explore that weekend.??So sit down and help her think of a list of people who she wouldn’t consider inviting.??I?call them the “I doubt they would come” people.? We all have that list.?Everyone overseas is looking to make as many friends as possible.? Why?? Well come PCSing season some of those friends are gone.?So it can never hurt to invite the “I Doubts”? They are very likely to come.?In DoD schools the teachers have the hardest time making friends.? Invite them! It’s absolutely appropriate.? They’ll decide if they want to come.? Invite the Chaplain’s wife, the men who work with your husband and their wives.?? Invite women from the spouses group.??Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister are not here so we look for family within each other.? Toss in a little food and a chance to chat and that house is packed.?Also, point out the Family and Friends back home and their opportunity to order online.? Family and Friends miss them terribly, and often want to do something but don’t know what.? So get them to send those invites out to order online.?Stay In Contact Before and After The PartyThis CAN NOT be stressed enough.? You are competing with a New Country.? There are so many exciting things to see and do.? Festivals popping up all over.So keep your hostess excited so that she keeps her date.? Give her a free gift for hosting and keeping her date at her party.Don’t bug her daily but check in occasionally to see if there is anything she needs.? Anyone you may need to meet with before the party since they can’t make it.And be excited!? Your excitement will spill over.? Make their party special.? Maybe plan a theme.? Christmas in September.? Cake, Coffee and Scents.? Out with Smelly Diapers in with Good Scents!? Make it fun and she’ll keep that date!Closing the PartyMilitary customers almost always want to close on Pay Day.? So plan to close near the 1st or the 15th.Don’t be surprised when they expect to close 3 days after their party and one of their customers calls and says they will pull their order unless you can move the date.Make your hostesses aware of this.? The higher the rank the less this is a problem sometimes, but mention it anyway. Their parties won’t always be filled with the same rank of people.?It’s up to them but the more orders you can hold onto the happier your hostess is. Never offer to put your card through and theirs later.? If that money isn’t their now it may not be later.? And you Direct Ship so you will not be able to hold their order.APO/FPO Check ListHostess Packet - Rewards Flyer, Warmer of the Month Flyer, Shipping APO/FPO Flyer, Sample Order Form, Catalogs, Order Forms, Invitations, Wax Sample,?? and Directions on how to direct guest to order onlineDiscuss The Hostess PacketDiscuss APO/FPO Shipping MethodsDiscuss Recruiting if the Hostess is interested.FoodPoint out people they can Invite.Stay in Contact Before and After the PartyClosing the PartyOrder FormFor some this will be self explanatory. However, I strongly believe that knowledge is power so learning is always important. I am really going to breakdown the order form in detail for you from top to bottom. I also posted a picture that goes along with this.Date/Host/Consultant: This is really important so you know exactly when and where this party was.?Name/Address: To be filled out by the customer. This needs to be filled out completely so you have all the information needed for your contact list as well as the order itself.?Phone Number/Email Address: IMPORTANT! This is your way of being able to stay in contact with your customer for this particular order and also in the future! Always try and get an email address so you can add them to your monthly newsletter!?QTY: This is the amount of a certain product that the customer would like to purchase.?Product Code: This is a fool proof way to make sure the customer gets the exact product they want. The product code for those who are unsure is the series of letter/numbers under the item.Description: This is a place to write the exact warmer/bar/buddy/etc. that they would like to get.?Unit Cost: What the exact cost of the item is. IE: Full size System $40.00 so you would put $40.00 in this column.?Total Cost: The total amount of a particular item. IE: 2x Mid size System $70.00 so you would put $70.00 in this column.?Purchase Information: This is where your customer would fill out all of their information when using a credit card. Make sure they fill out EVERYTHING in this section. You will need it all when closing out their order!?Subtotal/Shipping/Sales Tax/Total Amount: This is where the tricky part can come into play. I am going to break this down into the 4 parts. Subtotal: This is where you would add everything up from the order form. IE: Full Size System $40.00, Buddy $25.00, Scentsy Brick $20.00. Subtotal=$85.00. Shipping: This goes one of two ways. If the customer would like the order shipped in with the hostesses order and she had a qualifying party of $150 or more the shipping is FREE! If the customer would like the items shipped directly to them you follow the shipping guidelines. It's $5 for orders up to $50. Then 10% for orders between $50-$149.99. Make sure you ask the customer which they would prefer and add the shipping if applicable. Sales Tax: Make sure before you go to the party you know what the sales tax is for that zip code! IE: We are going to say that this party is happening in Southern California where our tax is 8.75% the sales tax on an $85.00 order would be $7.44. Total Amount: This is where you add up the 3 lines above! IE: The total amount for this order is $92.44.?centercenter??Order Form ExampleBUDDY FAQARE THE SCENTSY BUDDY AND THE SCENT PACK SAFE FOR CHILDREN? Because of the low-wattage light bulb, the wax never gets hot enough to burn so it is safe to use around children and pets.? All you need is 1-2 cubes of wax from a Scentsy bar.? Put it in the warmer, turn the warmer on and enjoy the wonderful aroma of Scentsy.Q: What kind of wax is used in Scentsy products?A: Scentsy Bars and bricks are made from a high-quality paraffin wax blend, which was chosen for its ability to hold fragrances and also for its low melt point.? This wax does not emit any type of harmful chemical into the air.Q: What kind of oil is used in Scentsy products?A: Scentsy uses key fragrance oil, which is the highest grade of oil before processing.? The oils used in Scentsy products do not contain phthalates.Q: How much wax do I need to use in my warmer?A: The general rule of thumb is 2 cubes for a full size warmer, 1-2 cubes for a mid-size warmer, and 1 cube for a plug-in warmer. Using more than suggested will not increase the scent strength or longevity.Q: How long does the wax last?A: One Scentsy bar can last anywhere between 60-80 hours depending on a variety of factors, including: the size of room, room temperature, how many squares are used at a time and even your body’s unique reaction to smell.? Explain that one envelope says grand prize and hold up the?Grand Prize?for them to see. This can be anything related to your business or it can be anything in general and does not have to be expensive and yet should represent good value to the winner. Explain that if they get an envelope that says?Win a Prize, they will get to take home a goody bag that night.Next, tell them that some of the envelopes say?Book a Show?which is the best prize. Let them know that they must follow through with the envelope they get. So, if they get the grand prize, they must take the prize home with them. If they get Win a Prize, they must take the goody bag home with them. And, if they get a Book a Show, they must book a show which helps the hostess and entitles them to receive free products at their own show and a special gift as well at the show. Before anyone opens their envelopes, tell them you will give them a prize if anyone wants to book a show before playing.
