CONCEPT OF POSITION: FORMTEXT The Assistant Division Chief assists with: leading the development, implementation, and direction of programs within the Division; coordinating activities of the Division with those of other divisions and the Executive Office; assists in determining Division policies and procedures; obtains, monitors, and allocates personnel resources and funding within the Division; consults with the Division Chief and members of Executive Staff regarding policy and program development and evaluation; maintains responsibility for special projects as directed by the Division Chief, Executive Officer, or the Board Members; acts as Division Chief in the Chief's absence; and prepares correspondence and reports. Statewide and overnight travel is required. % OF TIMERESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION40%-E FORMTEXT Provide overall direction on TTD activities for key programs, with the specific focus areas to be determined once an appointment is made. Anticipate, formulate, and guide the development of policy, programs, plan, strategies, and regulations to meet CARB objectives. Serve as a mentor and coach to help develop Division managers and staff. 25%-E FORMTEXT Represent TTD and CARB in meetings with other divisions, the Executive Office, Chair's Office, Board, CalEPA, Administration, Legislature, national and international government agencies, air districts and other local agencies, businesses, communities, and advocacy groups.20%-E FORMTEXT Assist the Division Chief in planning, prioritizing, and managing Division resources, as well as recruitment and hiring. Support and advise Division managers and branch chiefs in the resolution of personnel issues and other conflicts. Share administrative duties with the Division Chief, including management direction and oversight, contracts, budgets, procurement, training, safety, space, equal employment opportunities, and other subjects as directed by the Executive Office. Serve as Acting Division Chief in the Division Chief's absence.
