Application Assignment – Positive Math Attitude

Preparation Necessary for Application Assignment:

At least two weeks before your application assignment is due:

□ Do the 2 worksheets below to turn in:

1. “My Math Attitude Survey” and

2. “My Math History”

□ Choose 2 of the “Positive Affirmations for Math Success” statements and write them on sticky notes to be placed in your Math textbook or Math notebook. When you notice that you are doing negative self talk about Math, read the statements.

To Turn in:

□ The “My Math History” worksheet filled in from below.

□ Answer the following questions in complete sentences:

1. What 2 “Positive Affirmations for Math Success” statement did you put on your sticky notes?

2. Referring to the main negative experience you have had off your “My Math History” worksheet, tell me 3 ways that you can take this experience and turn it into a positive.

3. Describe your attitude towards Math (past and present).

4. Describe your experiences with trying to take your negative self talk or experiences and change them into positive. How is this going?
