“In this section, we’re going to talk about what kinds of concerns you think people generally have about their medical information, and what kinds of actions you think people take to protect their privacy. In the next section, we’re going to talk about what you’ve experienced in particular.

“Throughout most of this interview, I’m concerned with health care in a general setting -- like a family doctor, for example. Family doctors or general practitioners ask lots of questions about all kinds of health issues, like:

• SUBSTANCE USE: like smoking, alcohol, drug use or addiction

• MENTAL HEALTH: like mental illness, violence in the home, eating disorders

• REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH: like infertility, abortion, family planning, miscarriage

• DISEASES & CONDITIONS: like cancer, endometriosis, hemorrhoids, sexually transmitted diseases

• FAMILY MEDICAL HISTORY: like family health history, genetic testing

• SEXUAL ORIENTATION

• PLASTIC SURGERY
